League of Legends new cinematic provides a glimpse of Bel’Veth, next void champion

by eSportsJunkie Staff

As usual Riot Games created a beautiful cinematic entry for their next champion Bel’Veth. Its theme is around the popular void where champions such as Vel’Koz, Kaisa, and Kassadin recide. However, compared to the previously mentioned, Bel’Veth seems to be quite acquainted with the void’s philosophy. Similar to Malzahar she is looking to destroy the world by any means possible.

In the cinematic we see Kai’sa walking through a rather strange corridor filled with hands, when suddenly a butterfly boat lures her. At the end of the tunnel the boat is destroyed while Kai’sa is grabbed by this many arms attached to the walls, Bel’Veth then reveals herself in humanoid form. After a brief conversation Bel’Veth finally reveals her true intentions while metamorphin to her void form, which completely scares Kai’sa to the bone.

Riot Games set the stage for the next possible pass with this cinematic. A large part of the community speculates that the next League of Legends event will be similar to Viego’s conquer crusade, but with a theme involving the void.

Bel’Veth kit was not officially announced within the cinematic, however we have a couple of leaks which provides the new champion’s abilities. Keep in mind the following is subject to change and hasn’t been confirmed.

Passive – Death In Lavender

All enemies, including champions, monster camps, epic monsters, and super minions drop an “essence” when they die. Bel’Veth can collect these objects to stack her passive, which forms a swarm based on the number of stacks. The passive also grants lifesteal against jungle camps to Bel’Veth. If she attacks a turret or epic monster, she sends her swarm to attack it, healing her and damaging the enemy, thus consuming all stacks.

Q – Void Surge

Passive: Bel’Veth has four arrows that display around her in different directions.

Active: Bel’Veth dashes, dealing damage and slowing enemies hit, this includes champions and big or epic monsters. When that damage hits, the cooldown of Void Surge is restored. If the damage hits small monsters or minions then 40% of the cooldown is restored. Additionally, Void Surge activates her passive when used to pass through enemies while in Endless Banquet.

W – Above and Below

Bel’Veth goes underground for a short time—similar to Pyke or Rek’Sai—, gaining movement speed and allowing her to pass through walls. She then emerges, dealing damage, knocking up, and stunning all opponents in a small area for a short duration. If Bel’Veth uses the ability while in her ultimate, she becomes untargetable.

E – Royal Maelstrom

Bel’Veth starts channeling a vortex that prevents her from moving, pulls all enemies towards her, damaging in the process for each second they stand in the maelstrom.

Additionally, while using this ability, Bel’Veth takes less damage and converts a percentage of the damage received, and bounces it back to her attackers. If Bel’Veth uses her Royal Maelstrom while in her ultimate, a percentage of the damage dealt per second becomes true damage and can create an AoE damage explosion at the end of her ability.

R – Endless Banquet

Bel’Veth’s ultimate buffs all her abilities and transforms into her true form for a few seconds, a duration that can be extended while in combat. While using Endless Banquet, Bel’Veth gains HP, magic resistance, armor, and damage.

While in her true form, Bel’Veth heals for a percentage of HP based on the collected passive stacks. She can use her stacks to form a swarm of fish-like monsters, damaging enemy champions nearby. The swarm will die after a short period of time, but its duration can be extended by enemy takedowns.

Her overall kit suggests a more sustain team fighting focus, making her a breath of fresh air versus the last couple of champion releases. Hopefully she will live up to expectations and provide disruption and mayhem within the rift.
