LCS Week 7 Day 1 Summer Split 2022 Recap

by Rohat Dicle Kılınç

The penultimate week of the LCS has begun its play and the playoff race is only getting more exciting.

You can check out more about the teams in the league with our LCS Power Rankings, updated weekly and ahead of Week 7!

Golden Guardians vs 100 Thieves LCS Week 7

Coming into Week 7, GG made some big roster changes by first trading for River and then replacing Ablazeolive and Olleh for LIDER and Prismal. This new roster will finish the season by playing the last two weeks and playoffs if they qualify.

This new roster on one side a championship favorite on the other, early game was dominated by 100T as was expected. 100T was the team who found most of the picks and the objectives, except the second Herald, including a 20-minute Baron with a near 8k gold lead. GG found some kills of their own and won a couple of teamfights to make it closer during mid game, but they made one too many mistakes and 100T took advantage of it very well to close out the game.

  • Teams: GG – 100T
  • Time: 31:18
  • Kills: 13 – 24
  • Turrets: 3 – 11
  • Gold: 51.2k – 64.9k
  • Dragons: 1 – 2
  • Barons: 0 – 2

Evil Geniuses vs TSM LCS Week 7

Both EG and TSM had an early focus on the top lane, but a good counter gank from Inspired gave his team the advantage and helped them snowball by killing Solo three times in ten minutes. While TSM was greatly behind, they found a pick on Inspired and had a chance at getting Baron. But even in man deficit, Danny managed to steal the objective in a fashion reminding the fans of the TL series. And even though TSM had two early drakes they did not have a chance to delay the game to the late game. EG found an ace while baiting their second Baron and finished the game.

  • Teams: EG – TSM
  • Time: 30:15
  • Kills: 18 – 4
  • Turrets: 9 – 2
  • Gold: 61.1k – 47.1k
  • Dragons: 2 – 2
  • Barons: 1 – 0

FlyQuest vs Team Liquid LCS Week 7

The game had a pretty slow start, unlike our first two games. Even with only one kill, TL dominated most early objectives and had cs leads on most of their members. During mid game, FLY was too passive and did not contest any objectives, except one drake, and TL was the side finding the kills and towers. They eventually took the Baron after a very close fight thanks to a heads-up play from Santorin. With a lead near 10k at this point, FLY did not stand a chance as TL finished the game in a slowed but controlled fashion.

  • Teams: FLY – TL
  • Time: 33:12
  • Kills: 3 – 16
  • Turrets: 2 – 8
  • Gold: 48.9k – 62.6k
  • Dragons: 1 – 3
  • Barons: 0 – 1

Cloud9 vs Counter Logic Gaming LCS Week 7

Plenty of early game action in our Match of the Day. C9 started the game with an early invade. Contractz came out ahead from this early invade and a couple of counter ganks as he started out 5-0. Although C9 found some kills back and tied the drakes at 1-1, they were behind 3k gold at 20 minutes. Even with the scaling options on the C9 comp and the game going to the late game, C9 looked uncoordinated and individually not on point. And with CLG playing their enchanter composition to a great level they claimed another Baron and the Hextech Soul.

  • Teams: C9 – CLG
  • Time: 35:30
  • Kills: 5 – 18
  • Turrets: 3 – 9
  • Gold: 57.7k – 68.1k
  • Dragons: 1 – 4
  • Barons: 0 – 2

Dignitas vs Immortals LCS Week 7

The last game of the day is a near must-win for both teams’ playoff hopes. Unfortunately for Dig, they did not have a good start to it, losing every early game objective to IMT. But they found a way back into the game during mid game, getting some kills back and denying IMT the soul point. The game turned around at this point with momentum now behind Dig after some great playmaking from Blue’s Sylas. And with their finally scaled carries, Dig did not have a problem ending the game.

  • Teams: DIG – IMT
  • Time: 38:36
  • Kills: 15 – 6
  • Turrets: 11 – 2
  • Gold: 70.6k – 63k
  • Dragons: 3 – 3
  • Barons: 2 – 0

Highs and lows of the day

One of the biggest positives of Day 1 was the domination of the junglers. Jungle is probably the most stacked position LCS has and every game today was won by the one team’s jungler controlling the early game.

Also, it was great to see CLG go back to their enchanter-reliant team comp and won with it again. They are the only team in LCS, and probably LEC, to use Seraphine lanes to their potential. When it comes to individual player performances, Bwipo, Contractz and Blue have to be the players who stood out the most.

Okay, what about the “lows” part of the day? Some of our less consistent teams are still looking too passive when they fall behind, two big examples being FLY and C9. Both teams’ mid/jungle duos carried some games this split, but when not getting early leads neither duos impacted the map in a positive way today.

Also as a note, this was the first LCS win for the Dignitas rookies Hoon, Spawn and eXyu.
