Who will finish the regular season in the playoffs? Here are three big storylines heading into the LCS Super Week.
The 2022 LCS spring split regular season will be coming to an end this week. As the LCS Super Week takes teams into the playoffs. Only three teams thus far have secured their spot in the six-team playoff tournament, with no seeding guaranteed either. Here are ESTNN’s three big storylines heading into the final week of the regular season.
Can 100 Thieves upset the teams at the top?
For a while, it looked like 100 Thieves were going to have to settle for a third-place spot heading into the playoffs. There were a few games separating themselves and the top two teams in Cloud9 and TL. The feeling right now is very different, however. The Summer Split champions are on a five-game winning streak and sit just one game back from Team Liquid, who currently occupies second place. With just two games separating them from Cloud9 in first.
100T has started to pick up form when it matters most. The team looks more coordinated than they have all split, and they are making a push for that first-round bye. What makes this interesting is that they face C9 during the super week and could upset the apple cart. Even if C9 goes 2-1, a TL 3-0 would mean we get a spicy tiebreaker for first place.
Four teams separated by one win
As Anakin Skywalker would say, “this is where the fun begins”. Four teams are separated by only a single game heading into the super week. GGS, EG, FLY and DIG all have a shot at making the playoffs and any of these teams could easily qualify. Dignitas has the hardest schedule of the four teams. Going up against the three best teams in the league in C9, TL and 100T. Upsets do happen, but Dignitas fans will be nervous heading into this one.
What makes this super week fascinating, is that most of the teams in this clump face off against at least one of the teams they are battling with for a spot in the playoffs. This means the stakes will be high in every game, and we should expect an exciting end to the LCS season.
Can TSM go out on a high?
It has been a split to forget for TSM. The winningest org in LCS history is sitting joint bottom of the standings. With little to no shot of making the playoffs. Even if they were to go 3-0 this weekend, that would only tie their record. With three of the four teams sitting in the middle of the pack on seven wins.

Things have slightly improved for TSM since the introduction of Takeover. The team now has a 50% win rate with the rookie mid with a 3-3 record. Right now, it is about damage control and trying to get as many wins as possible before the regular season ends. TSM goes up against 100 Thieves, Counter Logic Gaming and Team Liquid in their final three games of the spring split. All eyes will be on TSM to see if they can at least make things interesting at both the top of the standings and at the bottom.
