Intendance of launching an esports venue in Japan through four subsidiaries has been announced by the company Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp.
Together with its partners, Sky Perfect JSAT Corp and Taito Corp, NTT East Corp, NTT Advertising Inc., and NTT Urban Solutions raised a total of JPY 300 million (£2.1 million) of project funding.
NTT Corp and its partners are committed to creating and managing a multifunctional sports and event organisation facility. The site in Japan’s capital, Tokyo, is the Akihabara UDX building.
About July 2020, NTTe-Sports will launch operations. It is equipped with gaming PCs and peripherals and uses local 5 G wireless networks across the entire facility.
With the increased funding, NTTe-Sports wants to launch a wide, high-capacity gambling and export facility capable of hosting esports events, offering studio space for the creation of content and providing an esport-talent development platform.
NTTe-Sports will work with other Japanese esports companies, in addition, to operate the new esports facility to increase the interest in the country, including the co-sponsored ARCADE Combating Games Event Fighter Gods Festival 2020.
