  • Immortals Gaming Club (IGC) has reportedly won a bid to purchase Infinite Esports & Entertainment, the parent company of esports teams Houston Outlaws and OpTic Gaming
  • The deal would include OpTic Gaming’s League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) franchise slot, making IGC the second outside organization to purchase a spot in the league.
  • As IGC already owns an Overwatch team (LA Valiant), the company will reportedly be responsible for a separate sale of the Houston Outlaws.

Immortals Gaming Club Database-Link-e1521645463907 will purchase Houston Outlaws Database-Link-e1521645463907 and OpTic Gaming Database-Link-e1521645463907 parent company Infinite Esports & Entertainment Database-Link-e1521645463907. The deal will be made for cash and equity worth between $35 $45M according to a report by ESPN. IGC declined The Esports Observer’s request for comment.

The acquisition of OpTic Gaming includes the organization’s franchise in the League Championship Series (LCS) Database-Link-e1521645463907. This would make IGC only the second outside organization to purchase a slot in LCS. Dignitas merged with Clutch Gaming, which will rebrand its LCS franchise to Dignitas in 2020.

OpTic Gaming will retain its branding for the remainder of the 2019 LCS competitive season, then rebrand for 2020, marking the first time Immortals has competed in LCS since 2017.

IGC is the owner of Overwatch League (OWL) Database-Link-e1521645463907 team Los Angeles Valiant Database-Link-e1521645463907. OWL multi-ownership rules prohibit the organization from keeping the Houston Outlaws, so the organization will be responsible for facilitating a separate sale, according to ESPN. The Esports Observer has reached out to the OWL for clarification on this process.

In 2017, Infinite Esports & Entertainment entered into an agreement to purchase a majority stake in OpTic Gaming. ESPN’s report states that IGC will be responsible for completing these payments, as well as LCS franchise fees.
