The Grand Final of IEM Katowice broke the peak viewership record.

We witnessed one of the most amazing Grand Finals in Counter-Strike history. The IEM Katowice final between FaZe Clan and G2 Esports had 1.12 million spectators, according to Esports Charts.

The Grand Finals saw FaZe beat G2 3-0, which seems like a one-sided series. However, it was the complete opposite of that. G2 Esports were extremely close to winning in many instances and the result could have gone either way. We have a more detailed recap of the finals here.

The Grand Final was the most viewed non-Major series in Counter-Strike. The 2020 IEM Katowice, which was held online because of the pandemic had 1 million viewers. Although many people believed that the viewership was high because everyone was in quarantine and that the Grand Finals were an exciting event to watch, the recent record shows otherwise.

It just goes to show Counter-Strike’s dominance as an esport. Facing competition from titles like Valorant, it is sometimes easy to criticize Valve’s title. However, the game has been there for decades. The fanatic community and these amazing finals are an example of how much the game means to people and that it is an extraordinary title after all.
