How Ninja Freed Streamers From The Sub Button

by devaccess

Ninja knew that leaving Twitch would forever change the streaming industry. He gave Twitch a reality check, showing that their grip over streaming wasn’t as tight as they thought.

And over these last four months, more streamers followed Ninja’s lead, finding other platforms to sign under. Everyone is on the edge of their seat, waiting for the next streamer to announce they’re leaving.

Ninja ignited a war in streaming. A war fought on the negotiation table.

Actually ppl should leave Twitch because of their stupid bans. They are like the government of some country, where the freedom of speech doesnt exist. They send their streamers to "ban"-jail.

There may be a HUGE chance of where Dr.Disrespect could stay on Twitch, to keep it alive in 2020, and maybe support the remaining streamers on Twitch. By doing that, Dr.Disrespect and Ninja might have a Twitch Follower War, to a point of where he could have a 95% chance of leading pack again. Why would it matter? Because Dr.Disrespect is a HIGHLY known Twitch Streamer, said to make up the top 25 Twitch Streamer in terms of likes, followers, Twitch subs, and viewers combined; which I can call it "The Four Elements of Twitch". By then, we can see something familiar to the older days of Twitch, of where he leads, and maybe a point of where the surviving popular Twitch Streamers can work together, and find solutions to every problem involving the newer Twitch.

They seem whiney to me: "Oh no my work-life balance is hard boo hoo". While doing a 20k a month job of playing video games……… Take holidays, get paid less.

But I agree, this drama and competition has been good for the streamers themselves, I just hope fragmenting of viewerships doesn't destroy communities, certainly it feels like some pro players disappear when they go to more obscure streaming services.

Yeah… No, that all sounds great and all, but it's naive to think that viewership numbers don't matter in the long run. Ninja has been streaming on Mixer for a while now and his numbers are pretty disappointing on there. While he might not care about them because he is getting big checks from the company itself, the company most certainly does. They signed him offering him ridiculous amounts of money precisely because they hoped that signing him would give their platform a boost in user numbers. It didn't, Mixer is still pretty much a ghost when it comes to the overall streaming market.
If signing some of the biggest names in the industry doesn't give you the boost you hoped for, how long do you think a business will keep those assets around? They are not generating the business revenue/growth, pretty much the only reason they were signed in the first place, instead they cost them a lot of money. There will come a point where these companies are done with taking risks and will cut their losses and what will happen to the streamers who made the move away from Twitch? Exactly they will have to go back to their former home, except this time they will not enjoy the privileges they had before, because their spots have been taken by other people and the people at Twitch haven't forgotten about their recent moves yet.

Ninja has made phenomenal career moves that has changed everything for a lot of people, the people who shit on Ninja have no business/financial idea what he’s doing. Love him or hate him he’s been helping the gaming community for years, and he doesn’t get enough credit

I think if Mixer really want to boost their viewer count they can easily do it with hosting tournaments….I'm sure I am not the only one that only uses twitch to watch tournaments and nothing else.

I don't think "thousands" of streamers benefited from what Ninja did….I don't even think that number made it to a hundred

Ninja made the same choice any of us would have made had we been offered the same deal. He doesn't have to stress the sub count like before, running ads that disrupt the experience for viewers, etc. He gets to relax more while playing with the constant worry. Also, with the way twitch has been issuing bans and suspension and applying it unevenly, mixer move was safer. Twitch needed to be knocked down a few pegs.

Ninja moving helped other streamers. You think Twitch would have offered contracts as they did recently had Ninja not left and started all this?

This reading of Ninja is over-indulgent to me. He did what he did only to benefit himself. He might have had beneficial effects on the system, but it definitely was not intended. You are kinda painting him as a saviour here.

Imagine thinking that as an adult, viewer numbers matter more than the cash to be able to do whatever you want with life… stupid lol. If you're that much of a fan, follow them to other sites.
