How a Mastermind and his Dark Horse Roster Conquered Counter-Strike

by devaccess

North America has always played second fiddle to Europe in Counter-Strike.

No matter how good an NA team got, it always seemed like there was a ceiling.

A couple of teams proved they could hang with the world’s best. But they could never be the best. Those glimpses of greatness were, for years, just that.

But then came Team Liquid. A cast of characters moulded over years of trial and error, helmed by a man who’s been there since the beginning. There is absolutely no question that NA has finally produced the best Counter-Strike team in the world.

It just took them years to put the puzzle together.

Correction: At 9:40, we said that Team Liquid failed to make it out of groups at IEM Katowice 2019. In fact, they lost to ENCE in the quarterfinals. Thanks for catching that, MZ 123

LOL you should not speak like Liquid is already better than Astralis. They arent proved themselves against astralis's domination. If they dominate csgo world like they did maybe even better then u can talk shit like. They did it in fewer days than astralis kinda bullshit

Eras are defined by major wins.
Minor tournaments, no matter how big they are, bring the only context to greater stories.
One thing we should take notice of is that the Intel Grand Slam's difficulty seems overhyped, probably because of the big bucks it comes with.
If "the most challenging achievement of the competitive scene" is completed twice during the same year by two different teams, it either means we are at a weird moment of CS:GO history in which teams are super-dominant for a short period then fade behind the next dominant team, or that this whole "Grand Slam" idea is not nearly as hard as it is marketed to be.
It does not mean it is easy nor useless -it definitely adds more spice to minor tournaments-, it just means that we might have to wait for the result of this major to start to seriously call TL the "best team in the world".
They are the strongest contenders for the title and it is theirs to snatch it with a major win.
Because if Astralis wins it arguably against the odds who will question their status as the first team to win 3 majors in a row?

I really hope they do the biggest revenge at the major. By that I mean literally dominate every team, 3-0 might be asking too much, but I believe they can still do really well
