The International 12 is getting closer every single day, which means that we will soon have the opportunity to watch the world’s best players. After covering all names and every position, our last article of this series will go through the remaining hard supports at The International 12. Being a Pos 5 support is not as easy as it seems because you have to do a lot of things early on. Moreover, most people in this position are also their team’s captains, which makes it even harder.
Since TI 12 will have the world’s leading support players, it’s no surprise we will see all of the best supports in the world. However, some of them are slightly more interesting than the rest, so let’s go through the remaining names you need to know.
Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon – TSM
The 23-year-old player from Indonesia is TSM”s current position 5. Despite his young age, Whitemon has a lot of experience because he became a professional in 2018. After spending some time with EVOS Esports, the player also played for Geek Fam and T1, two of SEA’s biggest names. With that said, he eventually moved to TSM in late 2022 and he’s been a part of it since.
Whitemon can play with a lot of different heroes, but most people will always associate him with one of the following:
Alexander “TORONTOTOKYO” Khertek – BetBoom Team
We can all agree that TORONTOKYO is one of the most interesting Position 5 players. He’s definitely one of the hard supports at The International 12 that you should follow because he is a TI winner.
Once a top-tier midder, the player decided to switch to the support role after joining BetBoom Team in late 2022. Before that, he spent 2 years with Team Spirit and won The International 10, which had the biggest prize pool.
Even though he didn’t start his career as a support, he is a pretty good Pos 5 for his current team and can play a variety of heroes:
Luke “Yamsun” Wang – nouns
The next hard support at The International 12 that people will follow up close is from nouns. Yamsun is just 21 years old, but he is a promising carry/support capable of playing with a wide range of heroes. He used to be carry for Wildcard Gaming and D2 Hustlers, but moved to the position 5 role after joining nouns.
Yamsun is mostly known for being a good carry, but he can also play with a lot of interesting supports like:
Matheus “KJ” Diniz – Keyd Stars
One of the hard supports at The International 12 that will be interesting to watch is from Keyd Stars. KJ is an experienced player who has players for names like SG esports and Wolf Team, but he became even more popular after joining Keyd Stars in early 2023.
Currently, the Brazilian player is his squad’s captain, and he is known for playing with a lot of interesting heroes, such as:
Romel “Mjz” Quinteros – Thunder Awaken
The second South American club coming from TI 12 qualifiers is Thunder Awaken and Mjz is the team’s position 5 support. He is a name that a lot of people are familiar with because Mjz played for many big teams in his career. The list includes Infamous, Thunder Predator, Gorillaz-Pride, Mad Kings, and more.
Even though Mjz is not his team’s current captain, he has a lot of experience that will definitely help Thunder Awaken. One of the interesting hard supports at The International 12 can play a lot of heroes, but most people know him for the following:
Dzmitry “Fishman” Palishchuk – Entity
One of the interesting hard supports at The International 12 is Fishman, and it’s because of his experience. The player has been active since 2016, which means he has a lot of experience with tons of different squads. The list consists of Nemiga Gaming, Vega Squadron, B8, Creepwave, and more.
After joining Entity in 2021, Fishman became even more popular with the public. Currently, the player from Belarus is famous for using some of the following heroes:
Oleh “kaori” Medvedok – Quest Esports
Even though Quest Esports has a lot of famous players, some of them haven’t been under the spotlight before joining this squad. It’s safe to say kaori is among them because the 21-year-old Ukranian player was a part of a few T2 teams. Nowadays, he is one of the most promising hard support players at The International 12.
Kaori can play a lot of heroes, but if you take a look at the club’s previous games, you will see that he is mostly known for these:
Artsiom “Fng” Barshak – Virtus.Pro
Virtus.Pro’s current roster is a very interesting mixture of young players and experienced names. When talking about the latter, we need to include VP’s captain FNG, one of the most experienced hard supports at The International 12.
FNG is a popular name in Dota 2 that played for a lot of top-tier teams. His career began in 2013, and he’s been a part of Team Spirit, Alliance, Gambit Esports, CIS Reject, and now Virtus.Pro. Currently, he is the team’s captain, and you can see him playing some of the following heroes:
Jiang “天命” An – Azure Ray
Even though he has been an active player since 2014, 天命 is not that well-known to the public because he’s always been a part of Tier 2 teams. However, one of the interesting hard supports at The International 12 now has the chance to shine for one of the hidden favorites.
During his career, 天命 played for EHOME.Keen, Keen Gaming, Team Aster, Ybb Gaming, and now Azure Ray. He can play with a lot of heroes, but the majority of players associate him with this one:
Jaunuel “Jaunuel” Arcilla – Team SMG
The last one of the hard supports at The International 12 is from Team SMG. Januel is a 24-year-old player who was a part of a few big CIS teams over the years. In fact, he spent around 2 years with Fnatic, but since the squad decided to seize operation, he moved to Geek Slate before joining Team SMG.
Jaunuel can play with a lot of interesting heroes, but most people know that he’s best with these 3:
