FURIA Esports was defeated by NRG in the second game of the ECS Season 7. The match was played in the best of three series to decide which team will finish as the winner of Group A, at the end, the NA side was able to secure a spot in the playoffs of the competition. The Brazilians, who previously beat Astralis, displayed a decent performance but it was not enough to avoid the 2-0 defeat, 16-13 on Train , and 16- 9, on Nuke.
First map (Train)
The first map of the series was picked by NRG. FURIA had problems playing as CTs, since NRG got the first pistol round and gain a three-round lead. The response of the Brazilian team came fast, winning four rounds in a row and managed to turned the tie. However, NRG had Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte, who was clinical in dismantling the Panthers. He got NRG back into the game with a 9-6 lead at halftime
The start of the second half was a disaster for the Brazilians, as they lost all the early rounds on the TR side. This led to NRG getting six points in a row and were just one win away from victory. FURIA still managed to pose a fight, with an exceptional performance from Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo, but it was not enough to avoid the 16-13 defeat in the first game of the series.
Second map (Nuke)
FURIA picked Nuke as the second map of the series. The Brazilians got a good early lead, but the NRG started to mount a comeback after an impressive clutch by Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov in the 7th round. It was enough for the NA side to turn the game around. At the end of the first half, FURIA got some rounds on the board, but the half ended in favor of NRG as they led 9-6 at the break.
In the second half, NRG managed build on their advantage, and was able to maintain the control of the game. In the end, the Americans closed the series 16-9 and guaranteed their progress to the playoffs.
In the other game Ninjas in Pajamas lost to Astralis in the fourth round of Group A . The meeting ended with a score of 0: 2. The side led by Christopher “GeT_RiGhT” Ålesund has been eliminated from the competition. They finish at 7-8 place and earned $ 12.5 thousand. FURIA will take on Astralis in the quarterfinal. It will be an exciting opportunity for the Danes to get redemption of opening match defeat to the Panthers. FURIA is proving to be a force to be reckoned with and could very well beat Astralis in one of most anticipated games of the competition.
The ECS LAN-finals Season 7 are held from 6 to 9 June in the UK. Eight teams from Europe and North America are playing $ 500 thousand.
