In 2019 Fortnite wasn’t as big as in 2018 but still generated $1.8bn.  According to research published by SuperData, the Royale battle generated $1.8 billion last year.

In the year 2018, Fortnite finally entered the mainstream with a gigantic sales track: $2.4 billion. As revenues dropped in 2019 in Fortnite, the digital games market increased by nearly $110 billion by a total of 3 per cent.

SuperData says, “There were no new games at Fortnite or Red Dead Redemption 2 needed to expand further.” A virtual platform from Fortnite was created by Epic, which allows fans to create their own worlds without buying any new content every week.

Due to Fortnite’s famous Battle Pass system, players just need to spend approximately $10 for 2 to 3 months on weekly missions, unique skins, and more.

Epic has also developed a way to convert players to spenders smoothly. Fortnite PC players are twice as likely to purchase digital content than League of Legends which is probably the world’s most popular free-to-play game.

As 2019 was a weak year for AAA and exclusive platform titles, premium game sales dropped by 5 percent. FIFA 19 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare were the best premium titles for 2019.
But this year, some of the biggest AAA franchises such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Halo Infinity will fall, so that a major boost will be seen in the new decade.
