FlyQuest vs TSM Series Recap

by Rohat Dicle Kılınç

With a 3-2 win, TSM upset FlyQuest and continue their playoff journey while the latter is eliminated from the race.

FlyQuest vs TSM Game 1

The first casualty of our first elimination game was Philip after an early dive from TSM for the first blood. While FLY’s early game was focused on Herald and turret plates, TSM prioritized the first two drakes. These trades kept the early game close, but a great Gnar engage from Solo and four-to-zero kill trade from TSM at the third drake blew the game wide open as the gold lead became 4k. FLY’s hopes of slowing the game down were shattered when TSM caught Jose, and then got three more kills, which gave TSM a very early Baron and a Soul.

Even though TSM found some more kills and two inhibs, the first Baron wasn’t enough to end and they had to wait for one. Elder did spawn during the second Baron, but TSM chose to siege and go for the end. After another good engage from Solo, and with a very fed Instinct, FLY could not resist much.

  • Teams: FLY – TSM
  • Time: 31:22
  • Kills: 2 – 16
  • Turrets: 1 – 11
  • Gold: 48.2k – 62.8k
  • Dragons: 0 – 4
  • Barons: 0 – 2

FlyQuest vs TSM Game 2

The second game had a similar start to the first. The first blood came from TSM in the top lane and FLY were the ones trying to answer plays. The only difference was that this time around, FLY was the team stacking early drakes. During the mid-game, FLY looked much more proactive, e.g. committing double Teleports, which gave them an edge in the team fights. Then an uncoordinated fight from TSM gave FLY three kills, which they turned into the Infernal Soul and a Baron. TSM tried to resist the FLY push by engaging themselves, but it did not work out as FLY turned it around and tied the series at 1-1.

  • Teams: FLY – TSM
  • Time: 26:33
  • Kills: 16 – 3
  • Turrets: 8 – 2
  • Gold: 51.2k – 41.3k
  • Dragons: 4 – 0
  • Barons: 1 – 0

FlyQuest vs TSM Game 3

Before Game 3TSM subbed in Tactical, back from the Academy team, for Instinct who struggled in the second game.

TSM picked a very aggressively early game comp around their substitute ADC, but FLY was the team making the early plays. After two early fights, FLY had a 1.2k gold lead at the fifth minute. TSM tried to get Tactical ahead, even got a cashout with the Draven passive, but Jose kept hunting him time and time again giving his team a massive advantage. With a scaling team comp and a big gold lead, FLY were very comfortable fighting TSM, taking a Baron and Soul as prizes. With the gold difference over 12k, TSM could not hold on and FLY got their second dominating win in a row for the series lead.

  • Teams: TSM – FLY
  • Time: 26:32
  • Kills: 6 – 29
  • Turrets: 1 – 11
  • Gold: 43.2k – 56.8k
  • Dragons: 0 – 4
  • Barons: 0 – 1

FlyQuest vs TSM Game 4

TSM kept Tactical in for Game 4, although they did not go for the Draven once again. Gameplay for FLY seemed to be not letting Tactical play the game as Jose got his flash level two, and then punished it for the first blood. The gold lead got out of hand a little bit when TSM took a 4v5 fight top lane, and lost it, while Johnsun was bot lane taking two towers. But a couple of overextensions from FLY turned it around very quickly, especially after a good mid lane engage from Chime and Spica. TSM even took another 4v5, this time without their ADC, which they won with a quadra kill from Maple. The fight gave TSM an opportunity to tie the drakes at 2-2 and extend their gold lead to 5k.

At this point, it was hard for FLY to contest for vision and Jose died trying just that, giving TSM a Baron. FLY did not have any chance to make plays of their own, and TSM controlled the game very well. They found another engage in the mid lane, which led to an easy ace to close out the game and send us to the final game.

  • Teams: TSM – FLY
  • Time: 35:18
  • Kills: 20 – 8
  • Turrets: 9 – 4
  • Gold: 68.1k – 58.9k
  • Dragons: 3 – 2
  • Barons: 1 – 0

FlyQuest vs TSM Game 5

Game 5 did not open well for TSM as they lost the first blood plus another kill after their mid gank failed. Two kills plus cs leads gave FLY 1.5k gold lead at five minutes. But TSM composed themselves and started looking for picks with their mid/jungle/support trio to even the game state. When they couldn’t start fights with picks though TSM struggled to get kills. And with the first blood, toucouille’s Azir was very accelerated and helped his team to secure an early Baron.

FLY did not get too much on the map with their Baron after a good Teleport play from TSM, who kept the pressure around the map at the maximum. 5v5 fights were on a very thin line but TSM managed to stay one step ahead and secured the Soul and got a Baron. TSM had great vision control and caught FLY trying to contest the Elder. The tight jungle was the worst spot to fight Tactical’s fed Xayah, as TSM aced them with a quadra kill from their ADC, and ended the series.

  • Teams: FLY – TSM
  • Time: 42:05
  • Kills: 8 – 20
  • Turrets: 6 – 10
  • Gold: 68.5k – 77.5k
  • Dragons: 1 – 4
  • Barons: 1 – 1
