Epic Games and Xbox teamed up following the release of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 to support humanitarian relief in Ukraine.
The North Carolina-based video game developer pledged all profits from Fortnite’s in-game purchases to help Ukrainians in need during the country’s war against Russia. Xbox joined the cause, vowing to donate all proceeds from Fortnite to various charities involved in supporting Ukraine. The contribution period would ultimately last two weeks, beginning March 20 and concluding on April 3. Epic Games broke the internet on day one with a $36M USD contribution.
Epic Games reported the final total today following the first two weeks of Chapter 3 Season 2. Overall, Epic and Xbox raised $144M US–a remarkable figure that will undoubtedly help residents of Ukraine amid this unimaginable time.

Fortnite’s official Twitter account reported the total after the 14-day contribution period. During that time, all profits within Fortnite, including Battle Pass purchases, V-Bucks purchases and Fortnite Crew subscriptions, would benefit Direct Relief, UNICEF, UN WFP, UNHCR and World Central Kitchen. These charities provide direct support to residents of Ukraine who are suffering Russian President Vladimir Putin’s reckless decisions.
“Together with the Fortnite community and Xbox, we raised $144 million USD for Direct Relief, UNICEF, UN World Food Program, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and World Central Kitchen. In support of their humanitarian relief efforts for people affected by the war in Ukraine. Our deepest thanks to everyone who contributed,” wrote Epic in its latest blog post update.
Fan Support Benefits, a Necessary Cause
While Epic Games and Xbox orchestrated this concept, the fans deserve a tip of the cap. This significant donation to a worthwhile cause would not have been possible without the support of millions of Fortnite players worldwide. The astronomical figure speaks to the continued popularity of the five-year-old Battle Royale, which is still going strong in 2022.
Fortnite experienced a resurgence in Chapter 3 Season 2, due to the well-received Zero Build gimmick. As a result, Epic Games made the game mode a permanent option. Hopefully, the conflict between Ukraine and Russia will conclude before the latter inflicts more irreparable damage.
