After a prolonged vacation, the Counter-Strike scene is about to commence for 2020. With DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020 around the edge, the upcoming season of blazing CS:GO action is upon us. However, this might be quite a mild start considering the fact that neither of the top 15 teams are attending the event. Although the first ESL Pro Tour event will host prominent teams including Cloud9, BIG, North and Virtus.pro among others.
The $100,000 event begins on January 24 and it will last for three days till January 26. The tournament will feature GSL format and it will be held at Leipziger Messe. Eight teams are divided into two groups and initial matches and winners matches will be best-of-one while elimination matches are set to be a best-of-three encounter. Two teams from each group shall advance to best-of-three playoffs.
The participants are:-
Group A | Group B |
Cloud9 | North |
Virtus.Pro | Sprout |
BIG | Heroic |
Renegades | MAD Lions |
It is interesting to note that three teams have a five-man Danish roster while the crowd is likely to support local favourites – BIG and Sprout.
