Riot Games stayed at the top of Twitch for another week with the League of Legends World Championship’s knockout stages kicking off.
Meanwhile, Herschel “Dr DisRespect” Beahm leveraged Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek’s exit from Twitch to lead all streamers for the release of Activision’s latest Call of Duty title.
Additionally, esports competition in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 provided an esports-heavy top 10.
The following channels are ranked according to the total number of hours watched on Twitch from Monday to the following Sunday, with data compiled using TEO Access.
For The Knockout
The League of Legends World Championship began its knockout stage this weekend, and even though there was much less airtime for the event on Riot Games’ channel due to fewer teams left competing, the channel still managed to lead Twitch.
With just two days of competition, Riot Games recorded 4.6M hours watched with an average of 119.4K concurrent viewers as competition ramps up. While that’s down from 9M hours watched last week, the average CCV is a notable increase from 96.54K CCV.
The main Riot Games broadcast led a number of LoL broadcasts in various languages including Spanish, Korean, and French that all recorded more than 1M hours watched and made the top 10.
Being DisRespectful
Herschel “Dr DisRespect” Beahm led all influencers this past week in viewership for Activision’s latest Call of Duty game following the exit of Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek from Twitch in favor of Mixer.
In the past, Grzesiek tended to lead Twitch when it came to viewership for newly released first-person shooting and battle royale games, but with his move to Mixer, a large chunk of Twitch viewers that didn’t want to follow Grzesiek to a new platform needed someone to watch as a new CoD was released. While Jaryd “Summit1g” Lazar and Beahm both served as strong candidates for attracting those viewers, Beahm appeared to reap the most benefit from Grzesiek’s move.
Shining Star
StarLadder’s StarSeries i-League Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Season 8 finals went under the radar with the second most-watched channel on Twitch this past week thanks to Worlds in LoL and the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
However, the main English-language channel for StarLadder’s event produced nearly 3M hours watched with 130 hours of airtime in the past seven days. All-in-all, the event hit its climax at the end of the week with a 6.77-hour finale that averaged 50.9K CCV, peaking at 82.48K.
