Song “Sccc” Chun is now leaving Newbee for Team Aster, who is working to restore for the upcoming season and is now in the dormant list ahead of Dota 2’s The International.
During the 2018-19 season, Newbee fought hard to construct a competitive lineup of rotating players across three, four and five roles. MDL Macau 2019 was their largest position and was fourth, but this was not even a race on the Dota Pro Circuit.
In addition to some bright spots, Newbee couldn’t combine anything coherent. All the time, Sccc stood on the roster as the longest-tenured mid-player and tried to hold the team together, although his claims were poor performance.
“Let’s talk about this year, we got no results this season, and it was mainly because of my poor performance,” Sccc wrote in a post on Weibo. “I didn’t play well enough, especially in later games. I am not satisfied with my own play. But when regional TI9 qualifiers were finished and Newbee was sixth over the qualifiers in China they seemed ready to move away from their mainly home-grown rosters. I’m not good enough for me and I don’t find other explanations, and I’ll first concentrate on my own game.
When Forward Gaming came down, most supporters anticipated another North American organisation to sign the list. It was therefore a surprise when it was announced Newbee picked them up, especially because the Chinese team tended to concentrate on the growth of players.
Sccc has confirmed a week after TI9 that it won’t join the only organisation for which it’s ever been playing. Instead, he moves to Team Aster, a Chinese competitor, in a transmission rumoured since TI8.
The team posted on Weibo after the signing became official. “The champion picks the sword in the buffeting winds. “Big brother soldier not only has the experience but has reached his prime. Aster had a tough DPC season, but genuinely managed to turn it into a few Valve-sponsored activities. “We were happy to see that he adds fresh lives to our squad.” However, this achievement did not lead to a permanent list, with Aster having to handle its players.
Sccc would probably substitute the team’s Kee “ChYuan” Ng, leaving Aster free to put somebody else on Carry and to experiment with any other modifications the team makes to the list. China will be competing another year as one of the most dynamic areas in Dota 2 just looks at how teams form in the early season.
