The CS:GO fans and community are getting hyped as they await a massive Source 2 update for the game. Players have waited years for Valve to implement their Source 2 engine in CS:GO and finally the dream is close to coming true. Leaks have suggested that it is only a matter of weeks before Valve pushes for a massive Source 2 engine upgrade for their signature FPS game, CS:GO. This will definitely not be the first time that Valve has had their existing Source 1 game updated to Source 2, back in 2015 they had updated DOTA 2 to the Source 2 engine by rolling out the DOTA 2 Reborn update. The speculated Source 2 upgrade for CS:GO seems more real as competing games like Valorant come closer to their full release. It is expected that the CS:GO developers will drop the update in an effort to retain the player base of the game and keep them well engaged.

A lot of hints have been dropped by Valve which might point to the speculations being true but nothing has been confirmed officially, as of yet. On 9th April, Valve released a compatibility update for nine of its active maps namely: Anubis, Dust 2, Chlorine, Mirage, Inferno, Office, Train, Overpass, and Vertigo. It is a rare phenomenon when a bulk number of maps receive tweaks in one single update, and this can be a direct hint that Valve might be preparing them for some the major upcoming port. But, in the end of the day it is all just a speculation and the update might simply be lighting and bug fixes for the mentioned maps as many users have pointed out.

Regardless, with everything coming together and hinting at Valve’s next major update we are definitely up for a ride on the hype train.
