How many titles will the North American Mid Laner win with his new organization?
Cloud9 has announced the signing of Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun following his departure from Evil Geniuses. This was the expected offseason move, with multiple organizations looking to snap up the highly talented player. Ultimately, the six-time LCS champion, Cloud9, won the race for his signature. The acquisition of Jojopyun is a significant coup for Cloud9, which is looking to regain its spot as the best team in the region following its 3-1 defeat to Worlds quarterfinalist NRG in the Summer Split final.

Sheep Esports first reported the move, stating that C9 had won the race between multiple LCS organizations for the reigning LCS MVP. Given how rare it has been for players to break verbal agreements, the matter was considered closed, and we would await the announcement following the opening of the free-agency window on November 20th. Then, Sheep Esports reported Korea’s Liiv Sandbox attempted to pry jojopyun away from North America to join their starting roster. Later in the article, it was confirmed that Cloud9 had reportedly upped their negotiations for jojo and won the race.
As stated earlier, this is a big win for Cloud9, with the North American outlet falling short of their expectations at the 2023 League of Legends World Championship. C9 existed on the Swiss stage with a 1-3 record. Their only win came at the hands of the LEC’s MAD Lions. The LCS’s second seed was eliminated from the tournament in the 1-2 stage after a close best-of-three defeat to Fnatic.
Cloud9 is making changes to its roster ahead of the 2024 season. Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami, Robert “Blaber” Huang and Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol all extended their contracts and thus committed their future to C9. Meanwhile, Jang “EMENES” Min-soo and Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen departed the organization following worlds.
