- Capcom and Super League Gaming will hold city-based and city-vs-city amateur competitions for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.
- Super League Gaming will also add the game to its platform for tournament organizers to enable community-run competitions at affiliated venues.
- Capcom Media Ventures is a newly-announced entity formed in part to oversee Capcom’s esports initiatives outside of Japan.
Amateur tournament platform Super League Gaming
today announced a partnership with game publisher CapcomSuper League Gaming will hold city-vs-city competitions in major markets under the new STREET FIGHTER LEAGUE: Amateur-US branding, and ultimately crown a City Champion. This follows the company’s established league format for games such as League of Legends
“Our partnership with Capcom is about giving everyday Street Fighter V players the chance to play like the pros, both in local in-person events and in a national tournament played from exciting venues where participants will be representing their hometown,” Matt Edelman, CCO of Super League Gaming told The Esports Observer. “The experiences will be broadly inclusive and designed to bring players together in a fun, social environment where the opportunity to form new relationships will be as much a part of the value proposition as competing and improving in your favorite esport.”
Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will also be added to Super League’s platform for tournament organizers, allowing community groups to hold their own tournaments using the company’s proprietary software and network of affiliated venues. The company recently expanded the number of venues that use its platform via a partnership with ggCircuit.
STREET FIGHTER LEAGUE: Amateur-US competitions will be produced, broadcast, and distributed by SuperLeagueTV via Twitch and YouTube, with additional content—such as highlights and player profiles—and distributed across platforms.

Just this week, Capcom announced the formation of Capcom Media Ventures to handle all esports efforts outside of Japan, as well as entertainment property licensing. According to today’s release, Capcom and Super League Gaming will work with consumer brands to sponsor STREET FIGHTER LEAGUE: Amateur-US competitions.
