- Capcom reported net income of ¥12.55B ($113M USD) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019, an increase of 14.8% compared to FY 2017.

Game publisher Capcom’s
net income for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019, was ¥12.55B ($113M USD), exceeding its forecast by 4.58% and growing 14.8% compared to FY 2017.The company’s core Digital Contents business, which publishes videogames, brought in net sales of ¥82.98B ($750M) which accounts for 82.96% of the company’s total net sales of ¥100B ($909M), citing Resident Evil 2 as a major driver of revenue during the fiscal year. This was an increase of 11.9% YoY while the operating income of the segment grew 22% YoY to ¥23.32B ($212M).
Additional revenue growth was attributed to Devil May Cry 5 and the Monster Hunter series.
Following the PC release in August 2018, Monster Hunter: World surpassed a total of 12M cumulative units shipped worldwide—a record high for any Capcom title.

In a press release, Capcom said that it will focus on growing the Digital Content business, with the goal of strengthening download and catalog sales.
The company acknowledged a growing “attention” directed at esports in Japan. After declaring 2018 to be its “Esports Year One,” Capcom is “redoubling” its efforts to prioritize competitive gaming. Capcom intends to accomplish this by growing the player base worldwide through Street Fighter
Capcom’s plans have already been set in motion. Earlier this month, the company restructured its esports and media licensing businesses to form Capcom Media Ventures. The new entity will handle esports initiatives outside of Japan including the Street Fighter V Capcom Pro Tour.
The game publisher also partnered with amateur tournament platform Super League Gaming
In September 2018, Capcom announced Street Fighter League, a 3v3 team competition in Japan that will take place this spring. Street Fighter Pro League soon expanded to North America, with season one kicking off in April. Season Two will commence with the Draft this Fall and runs through November when a winner will become the first North American Pro League Champion.
