Can a Pity Invite Save G2 Esports? The Last Chance for R6's Greatest Team

by devaccess

G2 Esports are the best team Rainbow Six Siege has ever seen. They’ve won just about everything you can in that game.

Pro League, the Major, DreamHack. You name it, they’ve won it. And the Six Invitational, Siege’s most coveted tournament? Well these guys are the back-to-back champions.

Now heading into this year’s Invitational, G2 have a chance to grow their already insane dynasty by becoming the first team to win their third consecutive title.

But fans aren’t speculating whether G2 can win this year. They’re debating whether the team even deserves to be in the tournament.

Short answer No. Long Answer still No. G2 is washed up coming from a G2 fan.

The fundamental question is whether G2 is what it used to be. In the beginning, Pengu, Joonas and Goga were the players who carried the team. Fabian was just there and Kanto has developed positively over time. 4 years later, not only the game developed, but also the other teams. From gunslingers to strategy games, there is currently everything. But only Goga and Pengu felt able to adapt to the new mechanics of the game, which made the rest of the team lag behind. As with any team sport, the new players need a certain amount of time to learn the playbook, but the more complex the strategies, the better the player should be. And that's currently failing at G2. Empire, TSM, NIP, BDS, SSP are usually teams with the same skill level and a similar understanding of the game, which makes them appear more harmonious. Given the recent G2 games, in the future either the team would be without Pengu or Fabian. Uuno with Kanto works in fragger mode, but afterwards you need a Pengu, Goga, Joonas combo to complete. Hence Pengu to an innovative new team, which would probably help all teams more in retrospect.

In my opinion it is just karma. Not for the whole team but just for pengu, who was proud of himself getting shaiiko banned from RB6 for one year. Karma is a b*tch.
