Do you need help to play against Poppy in League of Legends? Not to worry, here are the best champions to help you climb the LoL ladder.
Poppy is one of the oldest Champions in League of Legends with her release date going back as far as 2010. Poppy is one of the more popular champions to play both in the Top Lane and in the Jungle, with her presence being felt both in solo queue and the professional scene. The question is, how can you counter Poppy in the Jungle? ESTNN brings the best three counters to Poppy Jungle in League of Legends.
Volibear
Volibear is one of the strongest in League of Legends and is a great pick into Poppy in the Jungle. And while Poppy’s W can negate incoming engages from Volibear, a smart player will wait out her W before making your move. Volibear has two abilities that can be blocked from Poppy’s W, your Q, which charges Volibear at an opponent, and his ultimate, which dives in a target area. Poppy can block these, so it is best to bait her into using W, whether through popping Ghost or determining which ability can be ‘wasted.’ Volibear has a faster clear than Poppy does, so you should be able to get around the map and track her movement by being in positions quicker. Poppy may have tank items, but once you lock her down, she is as good as dead, so try to engage with Poppy to stop her from going after your backline.
Nunu
Nunu is another good tank to play into Poppy in League of Legends. Although Poppy can also negate some of the engage from Nunu, the Boy and His Yeti should do just fine in this match-up. The key is to match the intensity of Poppy. Nunu is a great ganker, so make sure you are trying to set up plays with your team to get them ahead. Nunu can get around the map quickly and can easily deny vision from the enemy team. This is important because Poppy needs vision to gank safely. After all, once she is in, it’s hard to disengage without Poppy blowing everything just to escape, leaving her vulnerable for the next few minutes.
Taliyah
Taliyah is an amazing pick in the Jungle and in the Mid Lane right now. She is picked frequently both in solo queue and in competitive play. Taliyah is so quick at getting around the map, thanks to her passive, which adds movement speed when she is near terrain. This works perfectly as a Jungler as she is consistently near terrain, so she is always going to get the added movement speed from the passive. Taliyah, even from the Jungle position, does a lot of burst damage and is an excellent ganker, as she can shuffle players back if they are out of position. For neutral objectives, she can also wall off the enemy team, which means if Poppy looks to contest the Dragon or Baron, they will have to use Flash if they have it up, which would likely mean their death as their team cannot follow up at the same speed unless they also flash the wall.
Worst Champion To Pick Into Poppy In League of Legends
Kayn is now the worst champion to pick into Poppy, according to Mobalytics. Poppy can block Kayns’ incoming attacks thanks to her W. Even if Kayn makes it safely into the area, you can stun him into the wall with your E, which charges at the player, pushing them back, and if they hit terrain, they are stunned for a short duration. If you have teammates in the area, it is a certified kill. Poppy can also use her ultimate to kick Kayn away. Once he is out of the fight, the team fight should be pretty one-sided.
On League of Legends patch 14.7, Bel’Veth has one of the worst win rates against Poppy. One of Poppy’s strengths is her early-game damage. She will be able to counter-jungle Bel’Veth pretty well and, if she coordinates with her team, easily kill her early. Poppy’s W negates Bel’Veth’s kit as it prevents her from dashing in and draining her life. Poppys’ ultimate is also the easiest way to deal with Bel’Veth; regardless of whether it is a team fight, a 1v1, or a skirmish over the neutral objective, Poppys’ ultimate will be able to knock her out of the area.
Like against most champions right now, the reworked Skarner is having a hard time adjusting to life in League of Legends. According to Mobalytics, Skarner has the second worst win-rate against Poppy right now in ranked at 39.8%. This is to be expected, however, as most of the time players will often pick champions that are new or reworked and throw them straight into their ranked games without having the opportunity actually to learn their kit. This has always been a problem, so we will revisit this win-rate in a couple of weeks after the champion has had some breathing room.
