Being Banned from Twitch is a Good Thing

by devaccess

So, Dr DisRespect isn’t even back yet, but his inevitable return to Twitch has people asking a lot of questions.

Some people are wondering if he should even be allowed back, some are asking Twitch to be more transparent with how it handles cases like his, and some people are saying that being banned was actually good for him.

OK, so one thing you don't seem to get: What Doc is doing right now is his own work. Sure, you mentioned him planning the return, but he is the one making sure that he's in the headlines, he's the one doing the marketing together with his team. Hype doesn't come for free, it comes from having created a gigantic community over years and years of content creation. He shit the bed and everyone knows it, but now it's about making it profitable. Sounds shitty, but it's fair game.

how big your return stream is should be irrelevant. twitch doesnt get to decide who people flock to. they only get to decide whether that person is appropriate for their platform. and if they break the TOS then they get a ban and they dont get the usual revenue they would have gotten for that period. its not about popularity its about advertisers and money. pretty unusual perspective from this channel imo.

How much money Doc would have made if he was never banned > How much money Doc will make now even with a big boost after he was unbanned. They managed to spin it so the blow isn't as severe but this is still a blow.

the punishment is losing the money you would have made otherwise, not that hard to understand mr. score esports

edit: removing the sub button is a dumb idea, just lessen how much money they get from each sub

Folks, it's easy. Dr. Disrespect makes Twitch money, if the ban is permanent there's no more money. Money talks and if someone smaller did the same its and instant perma ban.

Let us admit it… Someone doing something shitty and returning with a bang is only applicable to DrDisrespect and other BIG time streamers. However, if we think that someone MIGHT do something shitty for a bang bang return is a bit paranoid.

Can twitch even do anything about this? They can’t control how the community rallies behind their favorite streamers, so how would they even punish streamers properly?

it depends on what they got banned for;if a twitch streamer is banned for CP, i would hope that they don't retain/gain their audience

So twitch's corporate ideas and the twitch audience's ideas don't align? Big whoop

uhh…. if twitch removes the sub button from a banned streamer… they also lose money…. so no that's not a brilliant idea….

I was in line behind him and his family at Disney a week after the ban, seemed like he was just enjoying the time off.
