Bali Major 2023 Groups Announced

by The News One

Bali Major 2023 groups have been revealed by the organizers. The tournament is set to take place between June 29-July 9

IO Esports took to Twitter to announce the Bali Major 2023 groups. The first group stage will see sixteen teams splitting into two groups of nine. The top four teams from each group will qualify for the upper bracket quarterfinals. Teams ranking fifth and sixth will advance to the lower bracket round 1.

Group A features beastcoast, Blacklist International, Execration, Invictus Gaming, Shopify Rebellion, Team Aster, Team Liquid, Team Spirit, Tundra Esports. On the other hand, 9Pandas, Azure Ray, BetBoom Team, Bleed Esports, Evil Geniuses, Gaimin Gladiators, nouns, PSG.LGD and Quest Esports are in B.

Shopify Rebellion will look to bounce back from their disappointing DreamLeague Season 20 campaign with a solid Bali Major campaign. The reigning DPC WEU champions Tundra have also been drawn in Group A alongside DPC NA champions Rebellion. Team Secret, who lifted the DPC EEU title a few weeks back, are in the same group as well. Team Liquid  don’t come off a wildly successful regional tour campaign, but they made it to the competition as Berlin Major finalists.

In Group B, Gaimin Gladiators will be the hot favorites to grab the top spot. Riyadh Masters 2022 champions PSG.LGD could be a formidable threat to their supremacy in the group. Quest Esports, who caught everyone off guard with their remarkable DPC WEU run, will make their first Major appearance and might upset some big names. DPC SA champions Evil Geniuses will look to improve upon their 4th place Berlin Major finish.

The Bali Major will begin on June 29. After a round-robin group stage, 12 teams will participate in double-elimination playoffs. The Bali Major 2023 Grand Final will take place on July 9 at the Ayana Estate. The tournament has a $500,000 USD prize pool, with the champion side claiming $200,000 USD and 600 DPC points.
