Vitality wins cs_summit – esportsjunkie

by Shehryar Raza

One of the biggest upsets of the competitive landscape of CS: GO took place last night. Since Liquid was beaten by Vitality in the grand finale of the cs_summit. It was much deserved victory for the French side since they dominated the NA side, with a 2-0 result. Liquid unfortunately had to settle for second place at a competition again this year.

Vitality was absolutely phenomenal from  start to finish. They team ended the group stage with a 8-2 result and also managed to beat the BLAST Pro Series champions, ENCE in the semifinal. Despite these great statistics, they were tipped to lose the confrontation , since ENCE beat Astralis a few weeks ago. Yet the made sure that its was a good day for their fans, as the pushed the series to all three games. They beat the Fins in the last game with a 19-15  overtime victory on Inferno.

Game 1

Team Liquid had a strong start to the grand finale. The NA side comprehensively dominated the French in the first half on Nuke with 12-3 lead. Yet Vitality decided to turn the tables and won the game with a 16-9 end to the map.  Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, proved to be the MVP for the side with 24 kills.

Game 2

One the second map Overpass we saw some of the same stuff. But this time, it was Vitality who dominated the game from the start, with an 11-4 lead at the break. It seemed like Liquid was edging close to a comeback with four instant kills on the pistol round of the second half, but ZywOo got a 1v3 clutch to edge the victory. Liquid still managed to mount a comeback by winning some rounds of their own and got nine rounds of their own. Yet they couldn’t prevent the French to win their first premier event of 2019 with a 16-13 lose.

Despite the loss, Liquid are still, miles ahead of Vitality in the world ranking. But that doesn’t change the fact that Vitality has pulled off a remarkable result. They should build up on this performance and show their true potential in the competitive circuit. They are a strong candidate to reinforce the dominance of the French scene. They will be in action against North in the DreamHack Masters Dallas 2019 later today. They have surely positioned themselves as a strong contender for the title.

HLTV ranking update

We didn’t see any change in the top four rankings but after the victory at cs_summit 4, Team Vitality has climbed sixth place and currently sit at fifth place in HLTV.org ranking. Fnatic went down to seventh place, meanwhile FaZe Clan and NRG Esports went down to  ninth and tenth, respectively.

We should expect big changes in the rankings after the finals of ESL Pro League Season 9 finals. The competition will take place in June and will host some of the best teams in the world. Speaking for the best, unfortunately, we won’t be able to see Na’Vi in the competition since they were eliminated in the round 2 of the qualifiers.
