Dota 2- The losers of Patch 7.22 – esportsjunkie

by Shehryar Raza

After comprehensively talking about the winners of the patch, let’s have a look at the losers of the new update of the game.

Abaddon

Abbadon was a popular support pick in the past few tournaments and Valve didn’t like it. So the cast range of the Mist Coil has been reduced by 300 units. The level 15 talent, will no longer provide 75+ heal instead it will now grant 60+ damage.

Abaddon was a popular position 5 owing to his  low mana cost heal. The range nerf is a big blow to the hero. We believe that despite the nerf, Abaddon will still be picked by pro teams since the heal is steal a lot at low mana. We will see Aether lens getting picked by the players to make up for the nerf. Meanwhile the talent nerf is not that much since the heals won’t matter a lot in the late game.

Dark Seer

The strength of the hero has been reduced the three units. He also gets a tons of changes to his talents. At level 20 the 400 AoE Surge has been changed to  +100 Ion Shell Damage. Meanwhile the other talent of +15% Cooldown Reduction has been switched with +10 Armor. Players have the option to pick 400 AoE Surge at level 25 since it replaces +150 Ion Shell Damage.

The reduction in strength means that the players will think twice before going behind enemy towers. Yet we believe that the biggest nerf to the hero is the AoE Surge talent being pushed to level 25. The Surge boost enabled the players to end the games quicker. Since to a cooler version of Centaur’s Stampede. It enabled the team to push or run to safety easily. It is also a very easy initiating tool on heroes like Spirit Breaker. We believe that the hero will be a less popular pick in the pro games.

Drow Ranger

With the 7.22 players will no longer be able to instantly kill off the Ancient camps. The ability will no longer pierce total armour, instead it will pierce base armour.

It is no surprise that the new update bring the end of Drow’s domination in the game. The hero was is able to solo carry the game, but now she will probably play at third position, being a buff to other cores. Drow will no longer be able to flash farm her way in the jungle. The base armour piercing was quite ridiculous, since the agility carries stood no chance against a decently farmed drow. This nerf will be able enable the tanks of the game to mitigate a lot of damage coming out from the Drow.

We believe that these nerfs are quite decent and Drow will still be picked in pro games. She might not be the most broken hero of the game anymore. She is still capable of carrying games.
