Rift Rivals 2019 details announced – esportsjunkie

The most prominent regions in the competitive landscape of League of Legends will once again compete for supremacy during the summers. As we are just one month away from the start of Rift Rivals 2019.

Europe and North America, after their phenomenal run at the MSI will have to fight for the bragging rights. This time the top three teams of each regions will be aiming to take the spotlight. The competition will be held from June 27th to 29th at the LCS Studio in Los Angeles. The tickets of the tournament will be go on sal on the 29th of May. So prepare yourself for an incredible week of top tier League of Legends action.

NA vs EU

The NA region will be represented by TSM, Cloud9 and the runner-ups of MSI 2019, Team Liquid. Meanwhile, Europe will be represented by Origen, G2 Esports and currently the best team in the world, Fnatic. The format of the competition is pretty much the same as it was in 2018. The group stage will be held in a round robin format where all games will be contested in best of one format. The region that will come out on top will pick the first three matches of the playoffs. The playoffs will be played in the best of five format.

When Riot made the announcement earlier today, they also revealed  the reason why they have shifted the competition to NA. The studio said that, since EU has a great responsibility of hosting the Worlds this years, so they requested to move Rift Rival to NA. So that some of the workload will be reduced from the host region.

We can expect some exciting action to unfold this year at Rift Rivals. Since, we will get to see a rematch of the MSI grand final between, G2 Esports and Team Liquid. G2 will be quite confident coming into this encounter, since they took little time to demolish Liquid, 3-0. In the meantime, the NA side will surely have revenge on their mind.

We will have to wait and see that which team come out in in these beating of the veterans. We will update you on all the build up to the event that will take place next month.

Possible rise of junior leagues

According to the Sport Business Daily, the new division of Riot Games will function like the existing regional leagues. Schools will have to buy places for participation in championships, as well as report to the state for the local training centers. Management will act as a supervising body.

Earlier, the National University Sports Association of the United States and Canada has postponed the creation of a eSPorts league for an indefinite period. Representatives of the organization questioned that discipline cannot be equally recognized as traditional sports. Lets see what Riot has to say on this disappointing decision from the Higher Education board of the NA region.
