Twitch Rivals Posts Strongest Weekend of Viewership Ever During TwitchCon Europe

held its first TwitchCon event outside of the U.S. this past weekend at the CityCube Berlin in Germany, and as a part of the convention, the platform’s influencer-based esports division, Twitch Rivals held a pair of events.

With an Apex Legends tournament on Saturday and a League of Legends Database-Link-e1521645463907 contest on Sunday, Twitch put its tournament series at the forefront for the first time after announcing plans to expand it at TwitchCon last year.

Prior to the last TwitchCon, Twitch Rivals helped to host 55 events with a combined prize pool of $5M USD, including a $2M prize pool from one of Fortnite’s Database-Link-e1521645463907

Summer Skirmishes. The plan for this year, however, is for Twitch Rivals to grow to 128 events as the platform looks to expand its foothold in influencer-based esports.

While TwitchCon is known for having its esports related events, TwitchCon Europe marks the first time the platform has held a live event for Twitch Rivals. In the past, esports events that TwitchCon held included the Fortnite Fall Skirmish finale, the Doritos Bowl for Call of Duty Database-Link-e1521645463907, and the PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS Database-Link-e1521645463907 Broadcaster Royale.

Though TwitchCon Europe served as a more condensed version of Twitch’s biggest event of the year, Twitch Rivals still managed to leverage the convention to its best weekend in terms of viewership.

Over the course of two days, the Twitch Rivals channel produced 440K hours watched with 275K coming from its Apex Legends event. The LoL competition accounted for 157K of those hours watched.

Previously, Twitch Rivals’ strongest performing event on Twitch was its a broadcast for the Apex Legends event that touted numerous top streamers in the middle of February shortly after the battle royale title came out. The event was only for one day, but it posted 427K hours watched on Feb. 12. That session also had Twitch Rivals’ strongest average concurrent viewership of the year with 46K.

This past weekend wasn’t low on the average audience though. Despite the League of Legends event coming on the same day as the LoL European Championship Database-Link-e1521645463907

Spring Split finals, the event averaged 19K CCV over eight hours of broadcasting.

Saturday’s Apex Legends made Twitch Rivals the most-watched channel over the past seven days on the title with an average of 24K CCV. No other channel managed to produce more than 250K hours watched playing Apex Legends, and only Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek had a higher average CCV with 28K. However, Grzesiek only played the game for 3.2 hours during the time frame.

In-person events are necessarily the main goal of Twitch Rivals, which looks to support influencer growth with light-hearted, party-like events. However, as the broadcasting platform looks to expand the reach and importance of its internal esports series, events that give Twitch Rivals a spotlight will only help.
