Dota 2 Server problems haunt Battle Cup and WCG Qualifiers – esportsjunkie

Dota 2 users complained about the connectivity problems with the network coordinator during the battle cup. Players faced a number of problems, including losing connection with the client, an endless search for the matches and errors when connecting to the game.

On April 6, the connection to Steam servers in Europe and some other regions was lost twice. The connectivity problems hit Europe at night. Valve took its time to resolve the issue, as it lasted for a couple of hours. The servers were back online, 45 minutes before the start of the battle cup. Yet the network error stuck the servers in between and during the games.

Reddit users reported that most often the game displayed errors about the lack of server space or a poor connection to the selected session. At the same time, Dota 2 did not allow to choose another mode or leave the event. Some participants of the battle cup could not find the match for an hour or more.

No WCG

On the same day, the qualifiers for World Cyber Games 2019 for Dota 2 took place in six European countries. Only two teams qualified, one from the UK, and the other one Croatia. Unfortunately, owing to the connection problems, no one participated in the qualifiers for Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ireland.

In the British qualifier, Instant Reflex won as the side prevailed against The Brexit in a best of one match. Croatia will be represented by croDOTKA, which includes two upcoming stars of the region, Damir “Mitch” Shkarichich Adilovic, and Dino “dnz” Shavuk.

Representatives of other countries in the European qualification will be determined before the end of the month. National qualifying for the CIS countries will take place on April 21. Links to registration can be found on the organizer’s page.

The World Cyber Games 2019 Final will take place from July 18–21 in Xi’an, China. Dota 2, Honor of Kings, Clash Royale, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, Hearthstone and Crossfire are the official titles of the event. The number of finalists in each discipline and the prize fund will be announced by the organizers later.

According to the Steam Status, at the time of publication of the material, all Steam services are functioning normally. Valve did not comment on the situation.

Alliance Going To OGA

In the latest news, after a delay in the match of the final participant of OGA minor, Alliance defeated Goblin Legs for the last slot at the OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019 and qualified for the main finals of the tournament. The standoff ended with the score 2-0.

OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019 will take place from April 22-28 in Croatia. The prize fund of the tournament will be $ 300 thousand and 500 DPC points. The winner will also receive a slot for the fourth major season – MDL Disneyland® Paris Major. Before Alliance, Ninjas In Pyjamas secured their spot to the Main Event. These are the last remaining competitions of the DPC to secure slots for The International 9.
