Riot Games is facing tough days after Fortnite Patch 8.20 – esportsjunkie

by Shehryar Raza

Fortnite’s 7.40 update brought changes that drastically speed up the pace of the game and the comfort of the players. However, a few weeks later, update 8.20 canceled all these changes. Bringing the game back to its original state “boring” state. In this article, we propose to expose the ins and outs of these changes as well as to explain why 8.20 is a regrettable mistake.

With the advent of 7.40, Fortnite became more frenetic than ever. As the players were free from the constraints of health and material harvesting. A single player was able to take out multiple teams. Since when you eliminate opponent you got health, shield and could harvest materials a 40% faster.

The catastrophe

A few weeks later, the party is over. Epic considers that the gameplay ” made in 7.40″ had unhealthy consequences on the gameplay of Fortnite. The pace became too fast and too aggressive. Above all the Epic believes best players had more advantage. Since they could cross the entire map scratchless and they were able to kill the new players easily.

To make matters worse with 8.20, players are encouraged to finish off their opponents on the ground to get their extra 50 points of life. With the 8.20 update, all the changes made by 7.40 are canceled.

Harvesting has now become quite boring. Having building materials in Fortnite is not an option, but an absolute necessity. To win the game without any build is practically a challenge. While competing against a player who excels in building skyscrapers is practically suicide.

Since any player is forced to spend X minutes per game filling his stock of materials, one would think that it would be in the interest of the developer to decrease the harvest time as less as possible. By canceling the 40% bonus at the 7.40 harvest, Epic is doing exactly the opposite. There are apparently developers convinced that players want to spend 10-15 full minutes per game to deforest the map.

From bad to worse

Yes, the 7.40 changes made the very best players even more terrifying. But it’s not as if the game’s elite were not martyring everyone before. Before 7.40, Ninja and his gang were already locking up unhappy souls in boxes filled with traps. Teeqzy was already breaking records for kills every other day. While Kinstaar was already posting his last game every day at 23 kills on Youtube.

When one makes changes that improve the quality of life of 100% of players, you do not cancel them on the pretext that the top 0.1% has become a little more effective. In addition, if Epic really wanted to protect the masses form the pros, then why we had to wait a year and a half to have a ranked mode.

New or old, no one likes to lose a fight because a previous fight left him at 5 health. Nobody likes to look for bandages for half of the game. We all want the 7.40 back and Epic should really do something quickly before the audience makes a move to Apex Legends!
