Dota 2 Roster Changes Post TI12

Here are some of the Dota 2 roster changes post TI12 that we are currently aware of. Learn more about everything new.

The fact that Team Spirit won The International 12 put an end to one of Dota 2’s biggest tournaments of 2023. Fans were extremely happy they had the chance to watch the tournament as it unfolded, but the bad news is that it is over. This means that the top-tier Dota 2 teams and players have around a month off before they come back into action for the 2023/2024 season.

Speaking of action, the end of TI usually means that it is time for the most interesting roster changes of the year. This is where we see tons of interesting changes across all regions. Although there is a lot of time left, we already have some interesting news regarding the Dota 2 Roster Changes post TI12, so let’s learn more about everything. Keep in mind that there are tons of rumors about a lot of potential changes, but none of them have happened yet. For example, there were rumors that 9Pandas would disband, but the organization said that this was not the case. With that said, my 10+ years of experience in Dota 2 tells me that some rumors might be true, so let’s dive in.

Beastcost no longer has a team

When talking about Dota 2 teams, beastcoast is usually one of the names that come to mind because it has been flawless in South America. Despite the fact that the club got a slot for The International 12, it was unable to live up to the expectations and lost early on. BC finished last in Group C and was eliminated from the tournament.

It seems like the organization and players alike were not happy with their results. Therefore, the Dota 2 roster changes post TI12 shows that the squad has lost all of its players. All of BC’s players are now free agents, meaning they may decide to join a new organization or some of them could become a part of a new team. The interesting thing is that we do not have any additional news, so expect to learn more once it becomes available.

Taiga Leaves OG

The next Dota 2 roster changes post TI12 that you need to be aware of affects a team from Western Europe. It is safe to say that 2023 was not the best year for OG because the squad could not win any big events. The team even missed out on The International 12, so we’re not surprised there are roster changes.

With that said, the person who is leaving the team is Tommy “Taiga” Le. He was on the inactive roster for a few months, but it seems like the player has been battling with an addiction. In a long Twitter post, he shared more details about his gambling problem and how it has led to him not having any passion for eSports anymore. Fortunately, he is back on the right path and will be competing for a new team outside of Western Europe. We are yet to learn its name, but it will definitely be interesting.

Zai is no longer a part of Team Liquid

Western Europe is home to some of Dota 2’s best teams, such as Team Liquid. People had high hopes for the WEU powerhouse before The International 12 because TL’s performance throughout the year has been impressive. Even though the team performed well, it was unable to defeat GG and lost before reaching the finals.

Considering the results, we are not surprised that the team is affected by the Dota 2 roster changes post TI12. So far, we only know that Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg is no longer a part of the team because he decided to take some time off after the end of the tournament. 

Zai’s absence will be huge for Team Liquid because he was one of their best players. We will have to wait and see who will fill in his spot.

Ekki leaves TSM

TSM is one of the best teams in North America, but it was unable to show everything it is capable of at TI12. That’s why the squad decided to make a small roster change post TI12 by removing Ekki from the squad. The latter was the assistant coach, but it seems like he will be looking for a new home.

Mikoto may part ways with Talon Esports

Even though this change has not been confirmed yet, there is a good chance that Mikoto, one of Talon Esports’s stars, may leave the club. We were wondering whether to include this in the Dota 2 Roster changes post TI12 article because it has not been confirmed yet, but on one of his livestreams, the player said that he has offers from North America, as well as other SEA teams. Consequently, it is probably just a matter of time before he leaves.

Evil Geniuses Drops its Entire Roster

Another interesting news from the last couple of days is EG’s decision to drop its entire roster. This surprised everyone, and since it is a very important decision, we have a separate article just for it.

Kuku is No Longer a Part of Blacklist International

The Southeast Asian Dota 2 scene will most likely experience a lot of Dota 2 Post TI12 Roster changes because we just learned that Kuku will not be a part of the team anymore. One of the most well-known names in the SEA Dota 2 scene decided to leave the team, according to a Twitter post. If Mikoto also leaves Talon Esports, we may see Kuku in action alongside the likes of Topson.

Tobi leaves PSG Quest

Quest Esports was one of the most intriguing Dota 2 teams at The International 12 because of their performance before that. Sadly, the team wasn’t able to show much at TI12 itself, which is why we are not surprised it is going through a roster change. The most latest news from the Dota 2 Roster Changes post TI12 is that Tobi, one of the PSG Quest’s members, will leave the squad.

Iceiceice Leaves Bleed Esports

Everyone agrees that Iceiceice is one of Dota 2’s most well-known players.  His last team was Bleed Esports, but the SEA squad did not achieve any good results. Consequently, he announced that he would no longer be a part of the squad.  We are yet to see the official statement from the squad, and it will be very interesting to see which player will take his spot.

Monet Leaves Team Aster

Team Aster Reportedly Lose Star Player

Another interesting news comes from China, and it affects Team Aster. Despite being one of the best Dota 2 teams there, Aster failed to qualify for TI12, which is why we are not surprised the team is going through roster changes. According to the news, their star player Du “Monet” Peng has left the team. Monet is a living legend in the Chinese Dota 2 scene, so it will be very interesting to see if he will be able to bounce back and join a new team.

Fly, Abed, and Cr1t Leave Shopify Rebellion

Tal “Fly” Aizik, Abed “Abed” Yousop, and Andreas “C1rt-” Nielsen have left Shopify Rebellion. The trio’s departure leaves Artour “Arteezy” Babaev as the only member of the quartet at the North American organization, which had been playing together since 2019. The four players joined SR last year and led their new team to a fourth-place finish at the Lima Major 2023.

Midone and BOOM Join Team Secret

Team Secret has always been one of the biggest Dota 2 teams in the world, but 2023 was not the best year for Puppey and the rest. The squad was unable to qualify for The International 12, nor succeed in any of the other big events. Consequently, we are not surprised it was affected by the post-TI12 Dota 2 roster changes.

What’s interesting is that the squad decided to add Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng to its roster once again. The Malaysian player used to play for Team Secret for around 3 years before he moved to OG. After that, he played for Team SMG, and the latter even qualified for TI12. Sadly, Team SMG did not live up to the expectations and failed to survive in the Group Stage. That’s probably one of the reasons why MidOne decided to come back to Team Secret.

In addition to MidOne, Team Secret will also add BOOM to the roster. Miroslav “BOOM” Bičan. The player from Western Europe played for Team Secret before, but he was removed from the roster in June. It seems like the team regretted its decision because it decided to bring him back to the squad. This time, BOOM will be the team’s offlaner, whereas MidOne will take  the mid role.

Cr1t, skiter and Others Join Team Falcons

By the looks of it, 2024 will be a very interesting year for professional Dota 2 players because we have an entirely new team in the game. Team Falcons is the latest addition to the Dota 2 scene and it consists of the following players:

  • Stanislav “Marl1ne” Potorak
  • Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf
  • Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen
  • Jingju “Sneyking” Wu
  • Oliver “skipter” Lepko

We can see that the roster has a lot of big names in it, which means Team Falcons will definitely be one of the big names to keep an eye on. Of course, we are yet to see which region it will be part of, but by the looks of it, we will see Team Falcons in Western Europe.

Ah Fu leaves Team SMG

Tue “ah fu” Soon Chuan was a part of Team SMG, which was one of the best SEA Dota 2 teams that qualified for The International 12. Unfortunately, the team did not achieve good results, which is why it is involved in the Dota 2 Roster Changes Post TI12. After Mid One, Ah Fu also leaves the team and joins Team Secret. However, instead of being an active player, the SEA superstar will be the team’s coach.

Tundra Esports Parts Ways With Sneayking, 33, and Skiter

It seems like the disappointing results of Tundra Esports are one of the reasons why the team lost 2 more players. After Nine left the squad a few days ago, Jingjun “Sneyking” Wu and Oliver “skiter” Lepko are also no longer a part of the team. After spending more than and a half years with the club, the two players decided it was time to explore new opportunities.  Aside from them, 33 also leaves the club to join Team Liquid. He will fill in the gap left by zai, which means 33 will be Liquid’s new offlaner.

Blacklist International Has a New Roster

One of the top-tier Dota 2 teams in Southeast Asia is back in action for 2024. After the team failed to achieve any good results, it has a new roster that consists of top-tier players, including Abed and Gabbi. The two are back to the SEA Dota 2 scene after playing for different teams. Abed’s return was unexpected, but he was one of the players who was released from Shopify Rebellion a few days ago.  Currently, the roster of Blacklist International consists of the following names:

  • Marc Polo Luis “Raven” Fausto
  • Abed Azel “Abed” Yusop
  • Kim Villafuerte “Gabbi” Santos
  • Timothy “TIMS” Ranrup
  • Carlo “BDz-” Manolo

Invictus Gaming has a new Roster

The Chinese Dota 2 teams have had a lot of problems in 2023, so it is no surprise that the likes of Aster decided to make changes. There tons of legendary Dota 2 teams here, one of which is Invictus Gaming.  Although the latter became a Tier 2 squad in 2023, it seems like 2023 will be different because the team has a completely new roster that consists of the following players:

  • Du “Monet” Peng
  • Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang
  • Thiay “JT-” Jun Wen
  • Ye “BoBoKa” Zhibiao
  • Yap “xNova” Jian Wei

This is definitely one of the most interesting Dota 2 Post-TI12 roster changes yet because Invictus Gaming’s new draft looks deadly. We can’t wait to see the team in action because it consists of players who know what they are doing.

OG has a New Roster

2023 was definitely not OG’s year because the team from Western Europe wasn’t able to do much. Considering the pool results, we are not surprised that the squad made some interesting roster changes. Here is what the new roster will look like:

  • Artem “Yuragi” Golubiev
  • Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov
  • Adrián “Wisper” Dobles
  • Matthew “Ari” Walker
  • Sébastien “Ceb” Debs

We can see that Ceb will be a permanent member of the new team and he is also the most experienced player on the list. All other 4 members are young and talented, and BZM and Yuragi already have some experience, so it will be interesting to see what’s next for OG.

BOOM Esports has a new roster

Although BOOM Esports used to be one of the best teams in SEA, 2023 was a nightmare for the club. That’s why we are not surprised it decided to take part in the Dota 2 roster changes post TI12. What’s interesting is that BOOM got a completely new roster that consists of 5 players from South America. Currently, the roster looks like this:

  • Crhistian “Pakazs” Savina
  • Jordan “SLATEM$” Vega
  • Rafael “Sacred” Yonatan
  • Farith “Matthew” Puente
  • Romel “Mjz” Quinteros Rojas

Before joining BOOM, these players were a part of Thunder Awaken, Evil Geniuses and beastcoast. Consequently, this is a well-rounded roster that has some of the best South American Dota 2 players.

No[o]ne and DM join Entity

Entity used to be one of Western Europe’s best Dota 2 teams, but its most recent results haven’t been that impressive. Consequently, the squad decided to add Volodymyr “No[o]ne-” Minenko as their new mid-laner. Furthermore, the organization added Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin as an offlaner.  The new roster looks a lot more deadly than before, but we are yet to see if it can survive against the best in WEU.

Gunnar, Lelis and Fly join nouns

 

The North American squad will have a completely new roster for the 2023/2024 Dota 2 season. For now, we know the names of 3 new players – Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos, Nicolas “Gunnar” Lopez, and Tal “Fly” Aizik. It will be interesting to see the other two players that nouns will add during the post-TI12 Dota 2 Roster changes.

Looking for Teams

A lot of pro Dota 2 players are currently looking for new teams for the upcoming season. The list consists of:

  • ppd
  • MiLAN
  • Kidaro
  • Xepher
  • mini

 Rumors

Besides what we’ve mentioned so far, there have been a few other rumors about the Dota 2 Roster Changes post TI12. One of them is related to Shopify Rebellion and the fact that the squad might be disbanding due to its poor results. Furthermore, rumors have it that Arteezy will be leaving the roster and joining a new team. This would be the end of an era because Artour has been playing alongside his team members for many years.

Another interesting change that we may see is related to Gaimin Gladiators. Some sources claim that Quinn will not be a part of the team in 2024, but so far, the organization has denied the rumors. Of course, we are yet to see the final outcome.

Lastly, there are speculations regarding Tundra Esports and the fact that one or more players from GG could join the other WEU organization. This includes Quinn, dyrachyo, and even Topson.
