Dota 2 – Heroes You Should Not Pick in PUBs in 7.34c

by Zlosterr

Here are some of the 5 heroes you should not pick in PUBs in 7.34c.

The 7.34c Dota 2 patch became available a couple of weeks ago, but we can already see its effect on our favorite game. After covering some of the first hero pick trends following 7.34c, it’s time to learn more about the heroes you should not pick in PUBs in the current patch. Even though some options look really good on paper, their win rate and overall effectiveness are not as good as they should be. Consequently, focusing on other options is better because this will allow you to perform much better.

The fact that there are 5 heroes you should not pick in PUBs in 7.34c does not mean that players can’t make them work. On the contrary, every hero in Dota 2 is viable, but you just need to be more careful when playing. With that said, the options you are about to see are just not as strong as the rest.

Rubick

Dota 2 Rubick

Unlike a few patches ago, when Rubick was one of the best supports in the game, nowadays, this is no longer the case. Rubick is among the list of Dota 2 heroes you should not pick in PUBs in 7.34c because he is just not as effective as before. Sure, he has the ability to be one of the most impactful position 4s in Dota 2, but the current meta does not allow him to shine.

If we take a look at some of the top picks (we will have a separate article about them soon), we can see that they are really good early on. Rubick is very dangerous in the mid and late-game, but the hero’s early-game presence is not that good. Even though some of the best Dota 2 players in the world could make it work, when it comes down to PUBs, the meta is different. Here, you need to have effective heroes capable of doing a lot of damage early on.

Enchantress

Enchantress slows her enemies and deals Pure damage with her hits

Oh boy, if there is one hero other than Chen who does not get the same love in PUBs as in pro games, it has to be Enchantress. This hero has gone through a lot of changes lately, affecting her popularity in the process. Many people expected her to bounce back and become one of the go-to options in the current meta, but she’s not as popular as we think.

If we look at the stats, we can see that Enchantress is one of the least successful heroes in Dota 2 because she has a 44.53% win rate. One of the reasons for her lack of success and why she’s not a popular pick is that she is hard to master.

Unlike some of the hot position 4 support heroes in the Dota 2 patch 7.34c, Enchantress is a hero that requires a lot of skill. She’s extremely fragile and players need to have good unit control to be effective early on. Since most support players are not that good, this is one of the heroes you should not pick in PUBs in 7.34c unless you know how to make her work.

Ember Spirit

If we look at the current win rate of some of the most popular Dota 2 heroes used by pro players, we can see one name that stands out. Ember Spirit has been in the meta for years, and he will most likely continue to be a popular option for all of the world’s best players. He was the most picked hero during TI 12 qualifiers, which is why the Dota 2 Patch 7.34c nerfed some of his abilities.

Even though the nerfs weren’t that harsh, they definitely affected his overall damage and impact. Consequently, we think this is one of the heroes you should not pick in PUBs in 7.34c.

There are some situations where he can be useful, but it’s probably better to focus on some of the other popular PUB midders. Currently, the likes of Zeus and Kunkka are way more successful, so there’s no point in getting Ember when he is just not that strong.

Terrorblade

Dota 2 Terrorblade Guide

When discussing Dota 2 heroes that are good in professional games but not worth it in PUBs, we need to include Terrorblade. As mentioned in our previous article, this was one of the carries that received nerfs. Although we did not expect this to happen because the hero hasn’t been that strong in the last meta, Valve decided to step in and nerf some of his abilities in 7.34c.

Terrorblade is one of the few carries in Dota 2 where there’s a massive difference between is PUB and Pro gameplay. In professional matches, this hero is usually in a 4-protect-1 setup, where the team focuses a lot on securing TB’s game. Once that’s taken care of, they play around him as he starts pushing. This is where he is almost unstoppable to kill because his damage output is just too high.

Sadly, Terrorblade can’t function the same way in PUBs. Although there are players who try to do the same, PUB teams do not care that much about your well-being. Consequently, it is really hard to get into the same position as a professional TB player. This is definitely ot one of the heroes that’s good when he does not have items, so it’s just not worth taking the risk.

Final Thoughts

Alongside the heroes mentioned earlier, we can also include a few other names that are just not that good right now. Perhaps Snapfire is one of the heroes that deserves to be added to the list of heroes you should not pick in PUBs in 7.34c. She can be used as a support, but the most recent patch affected her core capabilities. Therefore, it’s probably better to avoid her and focus on some of the popular supports in the meta.
