On July 25, Jaylen Brown signed the biggest NBA contract when he extended his contract with the Boston Celtics. The record didn’t last long. A couple weeks later, Anthony Davis is extending his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and took the label of the biggest contract in the NBA.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul confirmed that the new contract is a three-year, $186 million deal. This means that he will earn an annual salary of $62 million. This is slightly higher than the $60.8 million per year that Brown is going to earn in Boston, as he signed a five-year, $304 million deal.
The deal takes effect with the 2024-25 season. Davis will make about $40.6 million this coming season, then his new deal takes place until 2027-28. He is coming off a season in which he averaged 25.9 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists on a career-best 56% shooting. These numbers represent one of the best years of his career.
“We are trending in the right direction,” Davis said after the end of the last season. “Obviously, the goal is to win championships, and we wanted to be not just knocking on the door but actually get it done, walk through the door. So that’s our goal. That’s our goal every time we step on the floor for training camp, and I’m 100% sure that will be the goal next year.”

The power forward entered the NBA in 2012, after being drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans as the No. 1 overall pick in that draft, out of Kentucky. Over his 11-season career so far, he only played for two teams – the Pelicans and the Lakers. So far he played a total of 660 games, averaging 24 points and 10.4 rebounds in 34.4 minutes per game.
He has scored at least 50 points in a game five times, not counting the 52 points he had in the 2017 All-Star Game. This was a record in the event until Boston’s Jayson Tatum scored 55 in the All-Star Game this past February.
