The Best CSGO Maps to Focus On in 2023

by Zlosterr

With the new year almost upon us we’re looking ahead at the best CSGO maps to focus on in 2023.

We are just 2 days away from 2023, and the best CSGO players are already preparing for what is to come. The new season will kick off soon, and players will have the chance to compete against the best. Speaking of players, some of them play for fun alongside friends, and others are yet to make their first steps in CSGO.

If you are one of the players who hasn’t had the chance to try this game yet, you probably want to know more about some of the hottest maps. Unsurprisingly, the best CSGO maps have a lot to offer, and people will want to try them out. So, let’s learn more about them and see what to expect.

Dust II

You don’t even have to be a professional CSGO player or a fan of the game to know some information about Dust 2. The latter is one of the most popular maps in any game because it has been around for many, many years. In fact, it became popular in Counter-Strike 1.6 and quickly rose to the top in terms of popularity.

Nowadays, Dust II is one of the many competitive maps, which means that you can play it in ranked mode. Of course, the map also plays an important role when it comes down to big tournaments because you can find it all the time.

Dust II is an iconic map for many reasons, including the numerous callouts. Things like the A/B Bomb sites, Mid door, Xbox, LOng, and so on are just some of the things you have to be aware of. Fortunately, you will learn everything pretty quickly once you start playing.

There is no arguing that Dust II is the most popular CSGO map, which means you can find tons of information about it. Feel free to check some videos and other things that will help you learn everything.

Inferno

CS 1.6 players remember that Inferno was one of the hottest maps. Unsurprisingly, this option continued to be the go-to map in CSGO in 2022, as well as before that. Needless to say, Inferno will continue to play an important role in the game and will attract many people in 2023.

One of the things that set Inferno apart from other popular CSGO maps is its colors. Unlike things such as Ancient, Inferno does not offer that many colors. However, the map’s unique design and architecture make it one of the most beautiful options in the game.

Like Dust 2, Inferno has many popular callouts you should be aware of. Starting with Banana, which is the long corridor from the T Ramp to the B side, you also need to know more about the Bridge, Balcony, T Ramp, Second Mid, and more. There are a few extra things to be aware of than in Dust II, but you will learn everything pretty fast.

Like most other popular CSGO maps, Inferno is balanced, which means that CTs and Ts should have equal chances of winning. That said, some CSGO experts believe that Inferno is a T-sided map.

Mirage

There is no arguing that Mirage will be one of the most-played CSGO maps in 2022. Many statistics back this up, which shouldn’t be surprising, considering that the map has a lot to offer.

Even though Dust II is usually regarded as the most popular CSGO map, some people think that Mirage deserves this title. Although this might not be the case in ranked games, it is true for professionals. No wonder this map is usually in every pro team’s pool.

There are many reasons why Mirage is so popular among players, and one of them is that it provides a lot of opportunities. Both Ts and CTs can come up with tons of ideas to defeat their opponents, which explains why Mirage is often regarded as one of the highest-skill maps in the game.

Of course, Mirage is also one of the balanced maps in CSGO that gives both sides equal chances of winning. However, some professional players think the map is better for the CTs because the two bombsites are located far away.

Like Dust II and Inferno, Mirage has a lot of popular callouts. For example, you need to be aware of things like T Roof, T Spawn, A Ramp, Tetis, Sandwich, and so on. Learning all of them will take more time, but it will be worth it.

Train

If you like using an AWP and want to play competitively or with friends, Train is undoubtedly one of the maps you should consider. Known for being more focused on the CT side, this CSGO map offers many hiding spots and many options. No wonder it will be one of the preferred variations for 2023.

Train consists of two big halls with many trains where players can hide. Although this gives the CTs a slight advantage, the Ts can use the long corridor located near one of the bomb sites to move around unnoticed.

Even though Train is a pretty popular map among professional players, it is the go-to option for people new to the game. Since it is slightly more complex than something such as Inferno, most new players often need help. Thankfully, they can play deathmatch and other game modes on Train, which will allow you to learn more about the map.

Finally, we also have to address Train’s callouts, some of which are slightly more complicated. For example, “Popdog” is used to describe the ladder that leads from the A-Site to the B Hall, as well as the area around it. You also need to be aware of things like “Spools”. The latter is located near the entrance to the B side, and CTs can go there.

As we’ve mentioned before, 2023 might be the year when Valve decides to release Source 2. This is one of the most anticipated updates because it will make CSGO feel contemporary and have amazing graphics. After all, the current version of the game is more than 10 years old, so it definitely needs an update.
