League of Legends 2022 World Championship

by eSportsJunkie Staff

With the playin stage now officially over, the League of Legends World Championship is set to start with the exciting main event group stage, where a total of 16 teams from all around the world will battle in four different groups and hopefully advance into the playoffs stage.

With respect and a huge prize pool on the line, Group B is one if not the most stacked team this year. In this 2 part series we will break down the incredible teams in Group B, lets go ahead and finish with Part 2!

–JD Gaming

The recent LPL Summer champions have arrived into the 2022 World Championship as heavy favorites to win it all. JDG has shown great team fighting ability, and also flexibility in their well rounded lineup. No matter the lane, JDG has one if not the best player for each role from the LPL.

Top laner Bai “369” Jia-Hao and support main Lou “Missing” Yun-Feng have been key players creating constant opportunities for the team. 369 has become the most consistent top laner in the LPL, having the adaptability of playing both carries and weak side champions at a top level.

Missing is not well known as a player especially if you don’t follow the LPL. However, the support main absolutely highlighted his talent on both enchanters and all in engagers. Having a pretty big champion pool, he gives the team flexibility in drafts, which will come in handy in the later stages of the tournament once a lot of games have been played and the team gets scouted.

As for the rest of JDG’s lineup, is basically as good as the 2 mentioned above. Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok still is one of the best early gankers in the world, mid laner Zeng “Yagao” Qi got the summer playoffs Finals’ MVP, and Wang “Hope” Jie is incredibly consistent in the late game team fights.

Given the previous results and the caliber of roster JDG has at their disposal, the team is expected to make it out of Group B as the first seed squad.

–Evil Geniuses

NA heroes Evil Geniuses had to work hard all the way from the playin stage into the main event group stage. They went through a total of 10 games, having played 2 tiebreakers after the end of the playin group stage and then a best of five series against the LEC representative MAD Lions.

Against most odds, Evil Geniuses demolished the LEC representative, securing MAD Lions plane ticket back home with a rapid and dominating 3-0 sweep. The LCS team focused on stopping MAD’s jungler Javier “Elyoya” Prades Batalla by simply banning his best pick Bel’veth. Evil Geniuses knew Elyoya was one if not the only player consistently performing for MAD.

After their last strong performance, EG should have gathered up some confidence ahead of the group of death. Jungler Kacper “Inspired” Słoma has been the key to EG’s safety in the early game. With that being said, Group B’s caliber of talent is way above what EG has battled in the playin stage.
