Aze wins over Infinity, while Estral dominates the LLA

by eSportsJunkie Staff

The 2022 LLA Summer Season playoffs have been a wild ride, with a lot of exciting series going underway. First, we had a repeat of the opening split grand finals in Estral versus Aze, but this time, the pharaohs didn’t break a sweat against the aces and took a 3-0 win in the first round of the playoffs. This secured Estral a spot in the next round, which meant that 1 more series win would earn them a grand finals appearance.

Isurus would face Rainbow7 in a best-of-5 series, and while a lot of experts were expecting a quick 3-0 in favor of Isurus, the rainbow squad actually put up a great fight and took the Argentinian shark all the way to game 5. Fortunately for Isurus, Seiya had a great performance on Azir and managed to close out the series in a convincing manner. This meant that Isurus would advance to the winners’ semifinals, where Estral was already waiting for them.

Now looking at the lower part of the bracket, Infinity had to square up against All Knights in a very important series, where the loser would be knocked out of the tournament. Infinity picking up a 3-0 victory might be a bit deceiving, because every single game was a very close fight that All Knights could’ve ended up winning if they played just a bit cleaner. Infinity would move on to the next round where they would face Aze, a team that they hadn’t beaten a single time in over 6 months.

Aze 3 – 1 Infinity

This series was expected to be an exciting and very close series, and it delivered. Infinity started off strong in the first game of the series, picking up the victory thanks to their bot lane. Snaker and Ackerman took over the game, and even though 5kid’s Zeri was in a very comfortable position, it wasn’t enough to come back into the match.

But Aze was not planning to give up this early and struck back fiercely. Aloned, who was heavily criticized throughout the regular season, managed to put up a carry performance on Azir, scoring the first win of the series for Aze. Now heading into game 3, we didn’t know what to expect. Aze’s top and jungle had an awful showing, but Aloned and Straight didn’t care that much and carried their team for the 2nd win of the series.

Now, the last game was a difficult one for Infinity as their weaknesses were now very clear. Even if Infinity managed to have a matchup advantage in the bot lane, Aze’s solo laner were more than ready to prove their worth, and that’s exactly what happened. Lonely played out of his mind with Lillia and closed out the game with a KDA of 20. This win secured Aze a spot in the losers’ semifinals, where they will face Rainbow7.

Estral 3 – 1 Isurus

Estral versus Isurus is expected to be the grand finals of the LLA, which is why this series brought a lot of hype. Estral has been the most dominant team in the LLA this summer split since the beginning. Bugi is simply smurfing the league, often finishing games with over 12 kills and putting up a masterclass for his counterparts, and this series wasn’t an exception.

Bugi and co. started up the first game without hesitation, rolling over Isurus in a 25 minute win in what was an almost-perfect game. Isurus managed to bounce back into the series after picking up a very convincing win over Estral in the 2nd encounter, but there was something off. It really felt like it was Estral messing up the planning of the game rather than Isurus performing great.

Game 3 was Kindless‘ show, dominating every single teamfight and being the highest damage output for his team on Sivir. The Chilean ADC finished the match with a 22 KDA and demonstrated that, just like Bugi and Mireu, he is capable of carrying his team too. Estral closed out the series with a very methodic win in the last game, with every single one of their players putting up a good performance. With their 3-1 win over Isurus, Estral just secured a spot in the grand finals, where they are still waiting for their opponent. The LLA playoffs are set to continue the next weekend, when Rainbow7 and Aze against each other.
