The first day of the PMPL SEA Championship 2022 has ended. A total of 16 teams representing four regions in South East Asia are competing for the glorious title and a total prize pool of 150.000$ USD. The finals are separated in three days, which will see teams battle for over 18 matches spread across the known three classic maps.
After the conclusion of the first day, D’Xavier from Vietnam is in first place with a total of 37 kills and 91 points. Taking two battle royale wins along with two podium finishes for the team, achieving quite a lead compared to the rest of the group.
Right behind them in second place is RRQ Ryu with 29 kills and a total 64 points while fellow Vietnam team Eagle Esports secured third spot, thanks to their consistent top 5 finishes along all the maps. Two fan favorites definitely underperformed, as Infinity placed 12th with 34 points, while ION finished in the 15th spot.
The first match of the tournament was easily won by D’Xavier with a whopping 10 kills, where Franky was named MVP for his contribution in five of those total kills. Franky’s health pool was at 10 in the final circle but he eliminated Pemburu from the Yoodo Alliance in order to clutch the win.
Evos Reborn Esports decided to take control of the high ground, making them win the second match of the day with 15 kills. Eagle Esports approached the game in a slower and safe manner to secure second place, while Farang came third with six kills.
Thai team Bacon Time claimed the third round match in the map Erangel with 12 kills. The team showed great rotation timing in the match, as they were able to catch a lot of players off guard to claim the win. Meanwhile, TEM was eliminated early in the match but managed to grab eight kills awarding them a small amount of points.
D’Xavier claimed their second chicken dinner of the day in the map of San Hok with a total of 10 kills as they received quite good circle RNG basically staying on top of them the entire game. Infinity youngster GodTunny took his team to second place with the help of a healing battle which he won thanks to a single med kit.
RRQ Ryu from Indonesia came out on top in the fifth and sixth matches of the day with 10 and 14 kills respectively, which moved them by quite a margin, 14 places up to second place in the overall points table.
Regarding the best players in the tournament so far, Frankyyy has secured first place on the total kills leaderboard with 13 eliminations. Finishing in a close second, F1Korea achieved 12 kills, finally followed by Perpehko with 11 frags. Everyone is quite close to each other.
