After a busy week of matches, it’s finally time for the MSI Rumble Stage to come to an end.
With places locked in for RNG, the remaining three Semi-Final spots were still up for grabs. Could G2 stop the rot and make it to the next stage. Would EG turnaround a poor start and pip PSG to the fourth spot?
MSI – SGB v G2
A game that meant so much for G2, and so little for SGB. With G2 on an 0-4 record since their amazing first two days at MSI. It was all to play for G2 Esports as they suddenly looked like outsiders for a top 4 spot. It started well for G2, picking up the first blood, however, SGB came to upset and upset they did. By the 20-minute mark, SGB were 6k ahead of G2, who started to desperately attempt to get back into the game. G2 made a final attempt late on to stay alive in the game but SGB were too far ahead and knocked down G2. The loss put G2 on 4-5 as their top-four spot was in danger.

MSI – EG v PSG
A huge game for the Rumble Stage, with EG and PSG both looking to secure their spot in the knockout stage today. EG went in with the advantage, with PSG really needing to win both games today to stay alive at MSI. With G2 having lost the previous game, hope remained, however, for PSG. It was a nervy start, but EG managed to take an early lead on the Rift, by the mid-game the gold was tied up as victory hang in the balance. EG had better fighting and map play towards the 20-minute mark, as they moved into a big gold lead. EG claimed a Baron and won the ensuing team fight before moving inside the PSG base. It was enough to ensure the victory as EG locked in their spot in the Semi-Finals.

MSI – SGB v T1
In the grand scheme of MSI, it was a game that meant very little to either side. That said, T1 started it in typical T1 fashion, securing first blood. While SGB looked to stay in the game, T1 were finding too many advantages across the map as they looked to secure 2nd spot. T1 couldn’t be stopped, with just 16-minutes on the clock they’d amassed a 7k lead, and it looked a matter of time before they ended the game. Picking up a big team fight in the SGB base and it was all but over. It’d take T1 just one more fight before knocking down the first inhibitor. With that opening, they pushed on, securing the win and all but nailing down the second-place spot.

MSI – PSG v RNG
When it comes to must-win games, RNG is probably not the side you want to need to beat. That’s the situation PSG found themselves in, however. A loss to RNG would send them home, even a win wouldn’t guarantee they moved, with G2 still to play. It was a dreadful start for PSG, with RNG claiming first blood, giving PSG everything to do. 7-minutes into the game, and RNG had a 2k lead with PSG left with everything to do. PSG had their first big moment to get back into the game, but RNG were able to come out on top. With Baron about to spawn, RNG had a 5k lead. RNG secured the Baron, as they entered the Rift looking to find a way to end. With Baron, they opened up the PSG base, before resetting and going for one last push. RNG secure the win, locking in the top spot as PSG were sent home.

MSI – EG v G2
Thanks to RNG’s victory against PSG, G2’s place in Finals was already secure. However, G2 could lock in the 3rd spot with a win against EG, due to the 2-0 head-to-head. For EG, a win could set up an unlikely spot in second place, if the result went their way. EG claimed a big first blood, turning that into a 3-for-2 fight overall. By 13-minutes, EG had a 1k lead, with G2 already on the back foot. Despite the early setback, G2 found themselves ahead at the 23-minute mark, though only by a few hundred gold. With a big pick onto Vulcan, G2 were able to secure a Baron, with EG opting to take the Soul Point Drake. Big play for G2, as they’re finally able to make a play to get into the lead. With Baron back on the Rift, EG looked to grab it but G2 took the win as they finally ended their 0-5 run of defeats. The win secured 3rd place for G2 as they went 6-0 against EG.

MSI – T1 v RNG
A battle for pride, rather than placement. With RNG having only lost one game thus far, they came up against a wounded T1. It was RNG that got the early lead, as T1 went on the back foot. Despite that early lead, T1 remained aggressive, as they managed to neutralize the gold lead RNG had built. As Baron spawned on the map, T1 had built a 3k lead as RNG looked to be on the back foot. A big fight around Baron went 2-for-2 as Baron was left alive. T1 kept up the pressure, with RNG not able to handle the Korean side. Off the back of a Baron claim, T1 was able to push into the RNG base and secure a win.
