Evil Geniuses

  • Artour “Arteezy ” Babaev
  • Abed “Abed” Yusop
  • Egor “Nightfall” Grigorenko
  • Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen
  • Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka

The legendary North American organization is back on the international stage and they are strong contenders for the title. The TI5 winners come into this tournament as the strongest North American team. They claimed first place in this season’s DPC North American Tour 2 in a convincing fashion. Evil Geniuses had to play a three-way tiebreaker against Quincy Crew and TSM, and they were able to take both teams down.

Their first game of the tiebreaker was against Quincy Crew and even if the game wasn’t as one-sided as most might think, they were still able to close it out convincingly. The last game of the tiebreaker was Evil Geniuses vs TSM as Quincy Crew was already out of contention for 1st place after losing two games in a row.

Evil Geniuses’ second tiebreaker game was a complete masterclass from them. They completely dominated TSM and finished the game before the 23-minute mark arrived. After those two games, there was no room for doubt that Evil Geniuses was the best North American team in the competition.

The Geniuses have one of the strongest carries we’ve seen in the history of North American Dota, Arteezy. He is one of the best players when it comes to using the resources his team gives him. Arteezy is not a self-less carry, he will try to take control over the map with the aid of his team. Evil Geniuses can blindly trust Arteezy as he’s proven to be one of the best carrys in the west.

TSM

  • Enzo “Timado” Gianoli
  • Jonathan “Bryle” De Guia
  • Jonáš “SabeRLight” Volek
  • David “MoonMeander” Tan Boon Yang
  • DooYoung “DuBu” Kim

TSM comes into the Major as the 2nd strongest North American team. For many Dota fans, they’ve never heard of TSM before. TSM is one of the oldest organizations in the history of League of Legends competitive scene. And not only they’ve been around, but they are one of the most successful ones. TSM later ventured into other games like CSGO and Rainbow 6 Siege, and also found a lot of success in those titles.

This North American organization is ready to take the Dota 2 scene by storm, and they are on a clear path towards it. Earlier this year, TSM acquired Team Undying roster and have already demonstrated their potential as a team. They finished 2nd place in this season’s DPC North American Tour 2 after failing to defeat Evil Geniuses in the three-way tiebreaker that occurred at the end of the tournament.

TSM’s playstyle is a very flexible one. Timado is one of the veterans in the Dota 2 Peruvian scene, and he’s been able to stay relevant for many years. But TSM doesn’t necessarily rely on their carries shining. MoonMeander is one of the strongest supports in the North American scene. He transitioned from the off-lane into the support role not too long ago and he’s already shown to be prolific at this position. In the upcoming days we’ll be talking about the rest of the teams featured in the ESL One Stockholm Major. On May 12 we will have the first games of the tournament and we’ll be covering the results so be sure to stay tuned in!
