Games copying concepts or maps from other popular titles isn’t anything new in the video game industry. In the past, there have been instances of multiple games outright ripping off the various maps of Counter-Strike, especially its iconic map Dust 2. This time, it’s one of the most popular FPS titles in the mobile gaming section – Call of Duty Mobile, which has found itself amid controversies due to having similar layouts to CSGO’s ‘Mirage’ in its new map ‘Tunisia’.
Reddit user and CSGO player u/aalhadxx has brought this incident into light through a post that parts of Tunisia look awfully similar to some parts of Mirage.
The screengrabs attached to the post showcase some parts of Tunisia while adjacently displaying parts of the CSGO map ‘Mirage’.
From the pictures, it seems apparent that the first part of Tunisia displayed has striking similarities to the A-bombsite on Mirage. Apart from the overall layout being quite the same, the entrances to CT-Spawn, Sniper’s Nest, and connector all seem to be present in the shown part of Tunisia.
The next picture shows another part of the CoD map and compares it to the middle part of Mirage. This time, the similarities are even more prominent as the lower connector, window and the entrance to underpass all seem to be present on the screenshot from Tunisia. What’s more is that, even the elevated portion of B-Short seems to be visible from the angle the screenshot was taken from.
While this sort of similarities are certainly intriguing, most people in the comments aren’t very concerned about it because it’s nothing new. Some fans are also finding joy in the fact that CSGO still continues to inspire other games to this day, eight years after its release.
