Short-form video platform TikTok has partnered with Collegiate StarLeague to create a new esports event – the TikTok Cup. Approximately $60K USD will be awarded across four esports titles including Fortnite, League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Rocket League. Additional prizes will be given away to players who submit TikTok videos for consideration, some of which will also be shown on the tournament broadcast.
TikTok has been steadily growing in popularity among gaming influencers and esports teams, with top organizations such as 100 Thieves, FaZe Clan, and Team SoloMid all active on the platform. Earlier this year, Method co-CEO Scott “Sco” McMillan partnered with the platform, creating video clips to share across his social media.
