Today Misfits Gaming Group (MGG) announced that the esports organization has partnered with Sofi, an online personal finance company, spanning Misfits Gaming U.S. As part of the agreement, MGG’s U.S.-based teams, the Florida Mayhem of the Overwatch League (OWL) and the Florida Mutineers of the Call of Duty League (CDL), will wear a SoFi emblem as its main jersey patch and will be a presenting sponsor for Mayhem and Mutineers events. Financial details were not released.
Additionally, MGG and SoFi will collaborate to produce original content pieces to run across MGG social channels with an emphasis on personal finance and achieving ambition.
SoFi CEO Anthony Noto is also part of the ownership group of NRG Esports, which owns the San Francisco Shock and Chicago Huntsmen. He helped raise $15M USD for NRG in a Series B round which included investors Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer Lopez, and David Goldberg.
For SoFi on the traditional sports side, the online lender also signed a deal that will see the company pay out $30M annually for the next 20 years for exclusive naming rights of the new football stadium in Los Angeles.
