by eSportsJunkie Staff

Last month after announcing the next step on Apex Legends esports venture, EA and Respawn Entertainment raised their celebratory glasses: the Global Apex Legends Series (ALGS). But a delayed registration period could be already a disaster for the first season online tournament at two weeks before the first event starts.

The hosts of the tournament revealed that the registration date of the first year’s online turnout, initially scheduled for opening tomorrow, was postponed. According to the developer’s announcement, a new sign-up date will be announced on the next day. For the delayed registration period, no reason was provided.

The 2020 ALGS season is split into 4 different types of events: streaming, Premier, Challenger and Majors tournaments. PC players from all over the world can compete in online competitions and take part in larger events later in the year.

January 25 and 27 was scheduled the first gaming tournament of the year. Those who score highly will qualify for the first major of the year, which is played from 13 to 15 March and is given the $500,000 prize pool.

Players need to connect to their EA account through Battlefy to sign up for the online tournament. The team captains shall complete an online form containing the names of all participating teammates for the ALGS 2020 season. On Apex’s web site, players can find a complete set of rules.
