Yesterday, esports consumer products and retail company We Are Nations announced its participation in the formation of esports investment vehicle Nations Ventures. The early-stage private investment fund plans to invest in esports companies by the start of the third quarter of 2020. Nations Ventures will target investment opportunities that not only compete directly with the Nations’ core business, but provide opportunities for collaboration, product and marketing enhancement, and other economies of scale.
We Are Nations owns a majority stake in Nations Ventures, with the balance of the ownership held by both new and existing investors in the We Are Nations family. “Like I’m sure everyone else has been doing since the start of the COVID-19 crisis, I’ve spent a lot more time on calls talking to people a bit more outside my normal orbit than usual,” said Patrick Mahoney, We Are Nations CEO, in a release explaining the occasion to found the new fund. “These connections have been great and have opened my eyes to a bunch of ideas that We Are Nations would love to be part of.”
