The United States Marine Corps has partnered with Geekletes, an esports hosting platform to promote education and how to be an “active learner” while at home. With the Fort Worth Independent School District shutting down classes indefinitely in the wake of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Marine Corps and Geekletes will launch a free interactive livestream for the Dallas-Forth Worth community as a learning resource For local parents and students.
On March 28, the livestream hosted by Geekletes, will feature local radio personalities, superintendents, professional athletes, and industry experts.
According to the release, a Geekletes Esports Masterclass will be offered that “…is a live-stream learning experience that combines pre-recorded lessons, live Q&A sessions, interviews, and interactive exercises to inspire today’s students to pursue innovative careers across various fields in technology.”
Earlier this year the Marine Corps partnered with the Esports Stadium Arlington through its Academic Excellence Program, where they jointly announced that any high school and college students who earned A’s on their report cards would receive one free hour of gameplay per qualifying grade at Esports Stadium Arlington in Arlington, Texas.
