Gonzalo “ZeRo” Barrios, the winningest Super Smash Bros. for Wii U player ever with earnings over $171K USD, announced that he will be streaming exclusively on Facebook Gaming. His inaugural stream is set to launch on Dec. 3 at 1:00pm EST.
The announcement on Monday marks a switch in streaming platforms for the popular streamer as he leaves Twitch and his 500K followers. However, Barrios will continue to create content for YouTube, where he commands an audience of over 800K subscribers.
Barrios, a Guinness World Record-holding Smash Bros. competitor, holds the longest tournament winning streak at 53, which he won between November 2014 to October 2015.
The 24-year-old Chilean native has gained notoriety in the streaming space as a variety streamer after retiring from competing in esports in early 2018. However, Barrios has since come out of retirement, having joined esports organization Tempo Storm and now competes in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
According to the announcement, Barrios made the switch to Facebook Gaming which will “open opportunities” for him to “explore new content and reach new audiences” on the global platform.
This news comes on the heels of Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang, a leading strategy game streamer, who joined Facebook Gaming in late November.
