  • A Canon logo will appear on the Defiant jerseys, plus the teams are planning content initiatives and a contest.
  • Defiant owner OverActive Media has also secured the Toronto franchise spot for next year’s geolocated Call of Duty League, also from Activision Blizzard.

Canon Canada has become the Toronto Defiant’s Database-Link-e1521645463907 official camera and streaming camera sponsor in a multi-year agreement, team owner OverActive Media Database-Link-e1521645463907 (OAM) announced today.

The Overwatch League Database-Link-e1521645463907 team will add a Canon logo to its jerseys beginning with Stage 4 of this season, which begins tonight (the Defiant face the Washington Justice Database-Link-e1521645463907 tomorrow). The team will also share a “Canon Photo of the Day” from all matches via social media and hold a contest to find an “Official Home Game Photographer” for the team for the 2020 season, in which it will host games in its home market.

The team recently held a photo shoot using Canon cameras to shoot assets for the remainder of the 2019 season. Beginning next year, the partnership will also include naming rights to a “Defiant Stream Zone,” along with a branded “Behind the Lens” photo and video series.

“Canon is thrilled to be partnering with OAM and providing the esports community an opportunity to level up the quality of their video streaming content,” said Justin Lam, senior vice president and GM of Canon Canada’s Imagine Technologies and Communications Group, in a release. “With Canon being a worldwide leader in imaging, we felt this was a natural fit for our brand and products to offer gamers the ability to stand out with their content—be it as a professional gamer or someone streaming from their home on Twitch Database-Link-e1521645463907 or YouTube, while using a dedicated Canon Digital SLR or Mirrorless camera.”

OverActive Media—which is also the parent company of Splyce Database-Link-e1521645463907—is based in Toronto and has also secured the Toronto franchise spot in Activision Blizzard’s Database-Link-e1521645463907 upcoming geolocated Call of Duty Database-Link-e1521645463907 League.
