Team Vitality and adidas announced today that they have extended their apparel partnership, and have marked the event by unveiling new limited-edition collaborative sneakers.
The companies first partnered in early 2017, with adidas becoming the official outfitter of the French organization. The new multi-year extension keeps adidas in that role, with the companies now releasing their first branded sneakers for consumers.
The VIT.01 sneaker features the team’s yellow and black colors, along with geometric shapes that symbolize the teams’ bee logo. The tongue also features the Team Vitality and adidas logos, with the “VIT.01” name printed on the surface of the shoe.
The sneakers sell for $176 (€160) and will first be available for purchase at Team Vitality’s newly-opened “V.Hive” headquarters in Paris tomorrow morning, with availability online later in the afternoon. The facility opened its doors this week, alongside the team’s announcement of a new $15.5M (€14M) funding round from Indian technology entrepreneur Tej Kohli’s Rewired.GG gaming fund.
“We are very proud to extend our partnership with Team Vitality. This step strengthens our position as an innovative and pioneering sports brand,” said adidas’ French Brand Manager Sylvain Bouches, in a release. “Team Vitality is a quality partner, inspiring a whole generation stemming from the esports culture, a strong sector that we started to pre-empt more than two years ago. Offering the best of our products and technology to our athletes to help them make a difference in their game, regardless of their discipline, is a priority. We are pleased to make our collaboration durable to continue challenging the codes of the sports industry.”
