Founded in 2017, Ghost Gaming fields a team in Fortnite and is represented by several content creators. In April, the organisation announced that it had been acquired by “strategic investors with expertise in esports, traditional sports, media and entertainment.”
Information surrounding the acquisition of Ghost Gaming, including financial terms and the new owners, has not been disclosed at the time of writing. Similarly, little has been disclosed about the deal between Ghost Gaming and Team Rival.

Rival Gaming made its announcement on May 18th via Twitter, stating that the alignment with Ghost Gaming will allow it to “bring more people on board, and provide resources for current players and staff.” The statement implies that in addition to a new name and logo, Ghost Gaming is providing considerable funding to the team formally known as Team Rival.
Esports Insider says: Ghost Gaming’s acquisition (and financial support) might be a shot in the arm for Team Rival’s fans and roster, who have expressed frustration over making it to the World Championships three years in a row, but failing to take home the title. Hopefully, this move does, indeed, break the #RivalCurse while giving Ghost Gaming another spot in the SPL.
