  • Supercell announced a Brawl Stars Championship that will start early 2020.
  • Brawl Stars is a mobile 3v3, 2v2, or solo game where players battle in a multitude of modes.
  • Supercell has brought five games to market including Hay Day, Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars.

The BEXCO Auditorium in Busan, South Korea, saw teams from all over the world converge to compete in the first ever Brawl Stars World Finals. Nova Esports was crowned the winner, defeating the likes of Animal Chanparu, 3Bears, Dr. HK, SSG Brazil, Spacestation Gaming, Tribe Gaming, and PSG Esports. However, the announcement that all of these teams were waiting for was what Supercell planned for the esport in 2020.

During the finals, Supercell announced that Brawl Stars would be back with a year-long championship that would start in early 2020.

2020 will see a season where players over the age of 16 will be allowed to participate with or without a team affiliation in numerous open-format online competitions that will then transition to monthly qualifiers.

While 2019 saw a $250,000 USD prize pool, no details were given as to what 2020 would bring.

“The tremendous level of skill demonstrated by Nova and all of the competitors at this year’s Brawl Stars World Championship makes us even more excited for the future of Brawl Stars esports” said Supercell’s Kim Jensen, who oversees Brawl Stars esports. “Our community has been setting up competitions all over the world since before Brawl Stars even officially launched last December, and in less than a year they’ve already honed their skills to an incredible level. We can’t wait for the 2020 competition to see who rises to the top in this truly open, global competition.”

The season will then see a global finals that takes place at the end of 2020.

According to techjury, active mobile game users has almost doubled in size from 2018 to 2019, from 1.64B to 2.22B with the new Call of Duty Mobile game seeing 148M downloads in its first three weeks of launch.
